          ... just enough trees to give shade. Miles of trails for walking the dogs. But we certainly are further north -dropped down to about 5C last night and we had the heater on this morning. Should make it to Wpg this afternoon. There's still something wonky with the electrical system so that little converter box may need replacing yet but all-in-all, things are good.           ... as being just a few hours out of the cities, although it was from a train window.

          In the afternoon we made our first stop and I was able to run to the pay phone quickly before we were back on board and moving again. As the day wore on I watched a few films and enjoyed a coffee upstairs in the observation deck. By night I was getting tired from lack of sleep and again tried to find a comfortable way to sleep.

          I woke up today at 2 am to witness something interesting. A man who was obviously intoxicating was peeing on a seat where a fellow passenger was psitting. The Canadian is a train of 20 cars and roughly a staff of 30 VIA attendants. Out of that 30, at least 12 work in the dinning car if not more. Plus some of the staff need time off since their job ...
