    ... let one of their dogs take a **** near the shoreline, then just left it there as we all sat there in disbelief. Yuck! A good Samaritan did appear out of no where with a plastic bag to scoop it up and throw it away, thank goodness!

    ... land. The western portion of the drive consisted of a lot of little shacks which had swampy properties with corn and tobacco fields on them. I didn’t know corn could grow in such soil, but there were a lot of corn fields on the drive. We finally pulled into the first gas station we saw to use the bath room.     ... Beach nice place. We decided to walk the mike to the beach it was 4:30 a hot walk indeed, the beach was packed with families enjoying the heat the beach was really long. The downside the surf was huge, I was so looking forward to a swim but decided my body didn't need the smashing around the waves would have provided...Bryan went in and said he was smashed down a few times. We might go again in the morning if the wind is calmer the waves ...

    ... the damage was extensive. Some homes totally gone, others severely damaged, some with the blue tarps still on the roofs, and lots of debris piled up along the side of the road. It's so amazing to see such devastation and to have it in such a slim area. We were told it wasn't a tornado, but the winds had to be upwards of 90 mph or more.     In the morning, we woke up around 7 and headed down to site 6 to meet up with our group. Along the way, we saw some cute little sanderlings poking around the surf for food. Sandy was tired and rested under the sunshade while I hiked further down to the east end. It was her birthday, so I couldn't complain if she wanted to relax.
