... lives in the eucalyptus trees on which they feed. Although eucalyptus leaves are poisonous and rather low in nutritional value, the koalas have adapted a special bacteria in their gut that allows them to process the leaves. But, to the baby koala's dismay, they are not born with this bacteria and must obtain it from their mother; every koalas first meal is its mother's feces. Now, due to the low nutritional value of the tree, the koalas don't get much energy and are forced to ...
Noosa Heads, Noosa Heads thomas.yurysta... on a trail only wide enough for single file!) . They were coming up when we were going down. They didn’t see us until the very last minute & they really didn’t like having to give way! I hid behind M until we were well clear as they kept advancing quickly towards us & then retreating again.

In Ingham we caught up with old mate Grossi, who i really think will become 'the Don' there one day! It was really good to see ...
Cooroy, Queensland, Australia lavis... a holiday in Noosa so it was a fantastic opportunity for us to catch up with them. We drove up on the Wednesday and their apartment was just beautiful, right on the riverfront. They could sunbake on their own jetty! We felt very spoiled after being in the van for about 9 weeks. It was a 2-bedroom apartment so we stayed the night with them. Went out to Ricky's for a very long and delicious lunch which, once again, was right on the ...
Coolum Beach, Queensland, Australia madnomads... 6 am to 4 pm ... we did it 4 days and finally gave up. However it has enabled me to understand what hard handwork does mean and I like to experience that (different from engineering for sure ...)
I met very nice people (bacpackers) there. We stayed in a Natural Park among the dingoes and other roots' travellers. Awesome camping ...
Beerwah, Queensland, Australia fwice... we slept! It was only a day or two before our departure that Scott was mentioning our frolicking to a local who shared how shark infested this exact spot is. Gulp! We again sampled some brilliant local seafood in the form of Scott's soon-to-be-legendary Oysters Kilpatrick and also a great 'prawn cocktail' style salad. So good - bring back the seventies! There's lot to do and see in this area. We had an awesome day at Australia Zoo, the highlights definitely ...
cotton tree qld, Australia hindmarsh... you, for coming to our rescue. Mooloolaba Marina had one no show, and only that one space left for our size boat. After coming alongside you could that this was true, the marina was full to the brim. I ran around deck like a chook with it head cut off getting lines and fender out of locker and getting all secured while MrJ had to negotiate AR back down the river through incoming late afternoon boating traffic; not just a few boats but people on kayaks and in tinnies ...

Beerwah, Queensland, Australia kandkawayCRIKEY! We stopped off in Australia Zoo on our way down to Brisbane. Pretty good place. We got a show in at the crocoseum which was great. They brought out some snakes, birds and croc's. The had all the birds really well trained so that they could get them to turn over on the grass and fly amongst the crowd and come straight back to the rangers. They were all pretty impressive looking as well, really colourful Macaws. The zoo keepers all showed the enthusiasm which ...
Berwah, Australia colandsand... so we just had a wander round Noosa Heads which is stunning. Very similar to the south of France with lots of outdoor cafes & people sitting there watching the world go by. Pretty but very busy beach too. The caravan park we were staying in was actually in Tewantin (about 15mins away) & that night Isa, Fab, Seb & I went into town for a few drinks..........everyone was dressed up to the nines. It was very different to ...
