... sea life. We stopped at a mile long sand bar to collect shells explore. Liv nearly jumped out of her skin when a stingray sped right by us.
We topped off the morning with lunch at a local restaurant recommended by Kathy. We ate a pound of fried shrimp, hush puppies and sweet potatoe corn bread. It was delicious!
Off to St. Augustine, Florida tomorrow morning.
... we decided to go on toward Savannah. I had started reading a book called "Catherine's Cross" that I picked up in the lobby area the day before. When we checked out I asked the woman where I could get a copy, since I was not finished reading it. She told me to take the book and mail it back when I was finished. Wow - talk about Southern hospitality!!
... Upon attempting to hand wash a glass, we discovered there was no water pressure. In fact the water merely trickled out of all faucets. My wife called the emergency number only to be told there must be a city thing since a few units had called with the same problem. After 30 or 40 minutes of frustration from turning on faucets trying to wash our hands for fill up a dog bowl with water, only to realize, "oh yeah we don't have any water", I called the number again. ... lovely bathroom-and a lanai, complete with candles. Went for dinner---had fried green tomatoes ! Service was charming. Met an alligator on the path. the waiter explained it wouldn´t eat us, as they keep them well fed.
Next day the pool area was supremely well equipped-soft sunbeds, huge towels, free suncream. Every time we thought they´d disappoint, they didn´t.
Eg, provided snacks , free mineral water, lovely bath products.
So yes, it might well be the best ...
... years before we return...too bad we can't go back in time to those fabulous school daze...
anyway, now that i've come out of my nostalgic fog ;) we stopped for lunch at one of our fav college restaurants, the whitehorse tavern, satisfied my fix for a combo munchie basket and the 'screaming mimi' potato, and then moved on toward edisto. we've only had to fill up the gas once and we're still goin on that tank of gas. we decided to take a scenic byway ...
