Possibly the smallest hotel room I've stayed in along my Route 66 journey, but by far my favourite. Decorated with Route 66 facts and novelty memorabilia. The quaint buildings make me feel like I'm back in the 1960s, and the Cadillac outside is the icing on the cake.

The Best Western Springfield served up a basic breakfast. Mark tucked into his sausage patties and scrambled eggs, I decided to stick to the toast!!

We successfully managed to get onto Route 66 quite quickly and made our way towards the state line into Oklahoma State.

We stopped to look around a little antiques store called …

... is in fact a nuclear bomb shelter built in one of the caverns! The tour was over an hour long, so we gave it a miss and pressed on and once again the female navigators let the team down! We had been driving along a small service road not far from the Interstate when Mumsie remarked that we hadn't seen a Route 66 sign post for ages, so Greg had a look at the map and we were actually on the wrong side of the Interstate!!!! ...

Leaving the casino campground we headed south on US 75 and then east on I 70 to Kansas City, Kansas and onto Kansas City, Missouri, we only passed through as we did not have a reason to stop. We continued on US Rt. 24 to the "Harry S. Truman National ...

Wait staff stroll the aisles offering "pass arounds", free of charge. The pass arounds are fried okra, fried potato and onions, macaroni ...
