... day progressed, however, we found ourselves looking up into the horizon and seeing a black-blue wall of a Utah desert flash flood coming up on us rather quickly. We ran back to the cars amid the rain/hail which continued into the night, yet Apples, Andres, and Elisa managed to get a raging fire going, so we weren't entirely freezing until we got into the tents.
We'll save the rest for the next entry!
... ve always gone in the summer.
Lake Alva was perfectly still in the morning light and made me want to stop for a couple hundred photos, but alas! it was less than 2 hours into our trip! It must be a crime in several countries to hurrry through such a valley as that.
The grasses this time of year are such a rich gold in the wetness. And against the rain blackened tree trunks, it was a gorgeous sight.
And Provo is amazing. We ...
... note for "DOMENY". It said our room number and "Please us eonly one bed since you booked for one queen." The room had two doubles. Weird.
The trip TO Utah was cool, though. We drove through the Mojave desert. We drove down the Vegas Strip and decided we don't need to return. We crossed the borders of 4 states.
It begins.
... at approximately 5:15 AM, I woke up having to endure waking up so darn early to wait for the freakin' bus at Chinatown in Los Angeles. We left home at 6 something AM. Before leaving, however, my grandmother from my father's side told me a few words since she was returning to the Philippines later that night. She told me the following advice (as if I have heard those already): if you are planning to get married, make sure you find someone with a really great ...
Utah, United States bobamaniac715... incredible rock formations your eyes have ever seen. Our camp host at Lightener Creek told us it would be warmer here, but I can remember the last time we were in this area….and we still had to use our electric heater at night. We’re getting closer to Moab now, so I will stop yakking and start manning the GPS to help Wendell find our campground. Before I close, we’d like to wish everyone happy “Flag Day”. Along our route ...
Provo, Utah, United States dlpool... is in our face, about 30mph plus that really took the starch out of our legs right off the get go. A very demanding day where we had inches to ride on or in the heavy truck traffic or off the side for a long tumble. At mile 40 we start the steeper climb to Soldier Summit 7,447' around 6 miles and it starts raining. When we get to the top we are soaked and cold now ...
Price, Utah, United States bot989So i went and rode ATV's in the sand dunes of Utah, a place called little sahara, about an hour and a half from salt lake or so, professionals go here, and this was my first time going to go ride in sand... it was crazy!! had a blast though, and i did well for my first time, at least i think so... I edited and made a cool movie out of the video's i took, so enjoy the videos and photos!
Little Sahara, Utah, United States jcjavo... We decided that we needed an activity for a little bit to give our two drinks a chance to settle before driving back down the mountain so we decided to take the hour long ski lift ride. It was gorgeous scenery and other than the lift occassionally stopping and leaving us dangling (NOT COOL!) it was quite enjoyable. Especially once we figured out to pull the bar down over our heads. We rode most of the way up the mountain on the lift ...
Provo, Utah, United States mwilliams79... a Copper mine tomorrow. We hope to go with them in the morning. Then we will head north to Park City to see the Olympic pavillion. We might even get to go bobsledding. They boys are being so good traveling in the car so much. They have been quiet and cooperative for the most part. Something very hard to do for little boys on a long car ride. Blessings from Utah, Elaine
Provo, Utah, United States eskimo13About this blog:
This travel blog isn't typical. I didn't start writing it at the beginning of my travels. I started this blog after I moved back to Utah from Hawaii, which I realized had become a common occurrence in my life. Leave Utah, move back, leave, move back. It all goes back to the U.S. higher education system and money, which would take me forever to explain so I'll just leave it at that. I wrote the entries from Hawaii ...
