... capable of joining me in mocking the same crazy conventions. I will come back to New Orleans , a city that is the birthplace of modern music and yet a place where I've heard nothing to match the Dooleys in quality all weekend. We went home early though , Steve and Rachel are probably watching Wynton Marsalis. Dear Reader, do your music research well before arriving here. For all that , we have had a brilliant first two days and it feels so much longer. Tomorrow ....... Cajun ...

I went to a lecture about Louisiana wetlands preservation and it was entirely BK/AK. Schools? BK/AK! Musicians in the French Quarter? BK/AK. With 80% of the city flooded, people dislocated for months or permanently, an influx of newcomers (the ones I met were young and white) drawn to the reconstruction, I ...

Dawdled a bit in Fulshear, waiting for traffic to die down, took off about 9:00, had a remarkably easy transit ALL the way across Houston. It is HUGE, just goes on and on and..... you get the picture. Foggy, kind of misty (see picture below). We really can't complain. Fantastic weather throughout this trip. Now, if it will hold up as we venture to Florida... Arrived in Luling, LA about 4:00. Jane ...
