First we had to negotiate ourselves out of the car park and into the Aires car park, which we did with much miming and sign language, our French not being as good as our poor German. Clermont-Ferrand, we discovered, is Michelin tyre city. The head office and an enormous factory were situated just next to our camp spot. ... and Clermont-Ferrand became home. Most shops were closed for the month of August when those who could afford it took their 'congé annuel'. We hung out with those who didn't jet off to the Riviera, a demographic of the population who live day by day and who seemed to appreciate us strangers as a welcome distraction. We, in turn, appreciated the company and there were more than a few farewells to deliver at the end of the month.

His only excuse was 'you are really not good at rugby' - which I suppose he has a point. When I reflect I realize how many sports we do a day - yet somehow Caleb spins it as though he never gets any choices ... Only mom and dad do... ...
