Ohh, Ohh Mexico! I love our Southern neighbor. I've been to border towns a few times throughout my life, but I have never seen the Caribbean. It was so wonderful and beautiful. And I will never forget it, hopefully!!
I took my 6 year old. From the airport we drove to Chichen Itza (about a two hour drive and a lot of pesos too) where we stayed at the most grorgeous hotel, the Hacienda something or other. The rooms were huge and cooled ...
... br>We've left the coach to do some shopping and to make a long overdue Costco run. The weather promises to 'warm up' starting on Monday and we hope to get in some sightseeing as well as a few visits to the local micro breweries!!! In the meantime Ken is a "happy camper" being stuck at home during baseball playoffs as well as football season!
Longmont, Colorado, United States thesairs... I have never, ever, seen so. many. people. EVERYWHERE. My hotel, the Citin Pratunam, was strategically chosen for it's prime location to shopping--by me--but as the cab turned down a one-lane soi (road), I had my doubts. People milling about, food carts selling and cooking food, scooters and tuk tuks zipping around us--it was overwhelming, to say the least. I had spent the last 3 hours trying not to throw up, and I was ...
Windsor, Colorado, United States sherrywirtz... wel as the Rocky Mountain National Park around 6:45 this evening. We thought about camping, but decided that staying in a hotel would be more convenient since we have to get Janis to the airport around 11. We decides to stay the Quality Inn, which has complimentary wi-fi, continental breakfast, and a indoor pool. It is comfortable here and it's nice to be on a real bed. Goodnight! Hope to give you another update soon!
... fall within our stay period and would be less than a two hour drive, I decided to attend as a guest. It was a great meeting.
The number of volunteers active in making this organization work is phenomenal and at some point all those present were recognized and some reported on current activities. The show and tell was great and included some granny and me quilts with the granddaughters there to show their ...
... a small community of old, well preserved homes I happened across a farmer's market. I could buy organic fruits and vegetables from the people who grew them! Better opportunities do not exist on an American road trip. Rather than huffing exhaust at a drive through, I strolled among the people of the community and bought food unique to the season in that region. The southernmost portion of the state becomes more rural and scenic along I-25. Once through Trinidad, crossing into ...
Fort Collins, Colorado, United States hodizzleHello and welcome to my travel blog! My starting-four-months-late travel blog!!
I will disclose up-front that I began my travels in May but am beginning my blog in October.
Basically, I blame this tardiness on grad school. My natural tendencies lean more 'lazy and irresponsible' than 'productive and timely.' Graduate school forced me to suppress these natural tendencies and do stuff-- a lot of stuff-- all the time. Specifically, a lot of reading and writing. Normally ...
... choices of my life. I've dressed them up as "living in the moment" and "adventure." Deep down, though, I sort of hope I'm not screwing up.
Oops, I forgot to mention that I will be turning 30 in about a month. Sort of puts my musings into perspective, doesn't it? Maybe it's better not to answer that question.
Speaking of questions, in an effort to elicit reader response...I will pose a question at the end of each post. You ...
Our last day in Summit County we spent washing our stinky backpacking clothes, uploading music to the MP3 player we will travel with (thanks Big Mike!), and other uninteresting chores along those lines. In the evening, we said goodbye to Julenne and met up with Keystone Science School folks for dinner at the Dillon Dam Brewery, then headed down to Longmont to stay at Adam and Lauren's house. The next day ...
Denver area, Colorado, United States casey_matt... weather was beautiful, the water was blue, and there were people everywhere. I was amazed at how many people visit there? I headed straight West along 50 from Tahoe. After Tahoe, the day was relatively uneventful. Driving across Nevada was pretty boring, there are ocassionaly mountains to pass through but they are seperated by very long stretches of perfectly straight highway. In some places you can see 70 miles of highway strecthing out in front of ...
