There seem to be more critters that wander onto the tracks along here. Occasionally you get that nasty, smoky smell that makes its way up into the passenger area from animals that get pulled up into the wheels and undercarriage of the train and I guess the friction of the wheels ...
After NY and Washington being in Iowa feels like real vacation - easy and laid back. After a nice breakfast we head off to Osceola to get our catering order. Had to stop on the interstate as it was pouring cats and dogs. We could not see anything ahead of us. ... there was this small town cafe - and it was packed to the seams and for very good reason. The food was excellent and oh, the home made pie was the best way to end the meal. What a wonderful old historic home they live in too - thanks Bob & Marilyn, for your wonderful & warm hospitality! :-)
