I rolled out of bed at 550 Saturday morning, and just about managed to be on the road by 630, ready for the 12 hour drive to Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Now for someone from England, the prospect of taking 12 hours just to drive to the next province is slightly overwhelming. Drove from Calgary to Clive, a little village north-east of Red Deer. We are staying with David's cousins, Paul and Darlene, who came to Australia and stayed with us a couple of years ago. It is great to see them. We stayed here for around 10 days, visiting family members and seeing some of the sights of Alberta. In our quest for the library, we stumbled upon the most beautiful city gardens! What a find in a roundabout way! Since Senica has a broken toe we cannot walk all over the town. I love how we found the highlights just a few blocks from the bus station!

Well, it is officially our departure day! Trevor is out and about finishing up last minute essentials before we leave Red Deer. Our list never seems to get any smaller no matter how much work we put in, but we will be on a plane later today, and then the list will be non-existant anyways. Our flight takes off at 6:00pm tonight and we will be stopping in L.A. first to have a lovely 5 hour layover ...

... the international centre is taking us up there so I'm doing pretty well! It was amazing, the Rockies live up to their name - there's some pretty scary jagged peaks, but it really is breathtaking. And it is literally breathtaking sitting in a 40 degree hot spring when the air temperature is zero if you're lucky. So my second day was spent in a hot spa surrounded by snowy mountain summits. I could get used to this.
