      Very friendly staff, good clean motel. Comfortable beds. Basic but quite good breakfast. Good WiFi and it does have a swimming pool. Also very convenient for bars and restaurants.

      Up and taxi to Alamo car hire. We had booked a Chevrolet Tahoe (or Similar) but I knew John Roy had hankered after a Chevrolet Suburban so when the guy said 'I've got your Jeep' we were not too happy. Unfortunately I rarely hire cars and am not too good at driving the 'hard bargain'. So we got mugged for an extra $45 per day for the Suburban. I …

      Surprised that I did not have a hangover I made it down to reception at the agreed 08:00 Evan then announced that he'd left his hat in the Burger joint the night before. Fortunately it was a 24 hour place so he was not long in getting it. I was later to find I'd left my hat in the room.

      In the lodge this evening we had cowboy poems from Norm and Jonny on the guitar singing some cowboy songs. We all gathered around them and enjoyed a wonderful evening. I heard Jon got on that guitar when I left for the kids nighttime swim.
