    On Saturday, as planned, we hit the road west. Not the west of Horace Greeley, mind you, but close enough. Before departure, we had a small "wave" of a problem, however. The front driver's side turn signal bulb looked to be burned out.     I drove with a couple friends to the center of the state. We stopped at a viewpoint of the Columbia river gorge and then did the flat hike to the Ancient Lakes - really pretty colorful lakes amongst the basalt coulees, complete with a waterfall.
