    ... stark, rocky area, following the Thompson River's deep canyon, and drove up and down through an area that clearly has more high desert rainfall levels than anywhere we've seen so far. The scenery gave way to the forest again. I was impressed at how lush. Brian had taken over driving by this time, and we wove our way along the Fraser River into Chilliwack.

    We'll spend a few days here, stop in Vancouver and begin our journey home.

    Since the beginning of this year we have been planning, preparing and training for the 800 km. endurance walk and expected hardships that will come with it. We put in much time walking, hiking and snowshoeing with increasingly loaded backpacks. We booked flights, we purchased and tried different gear, from backpacks to hiking boots, clothing, sleeping bags, first aid kit, ear plugs, moleskin, all the while trying to keep the total weight under 8 kg. ...

    ... in hand we set off to find the sign. We walked around in the pouring down rain for an hour and a half. We saw the sign after 15mins but Andrew didn't believe that was the real one so we had to search all over just in case. As you can imagine I was really impressed at getting soaked and walking up and down the same hill about 5 times. But at least we got the picture so Andrew was happy.

    After a beautiful few days at the beginning of our stay, Monday we experienced a wet Vancouver day which was the wettest August day on record. Nevertheless Cindy & I made the most of it and visited a Burnaby Village Museum set in 1925 while Nat and Rina checked out the city of Vancouver in the rain.
