... and instead went out to a great classic Provencal dinner, and got some good wine. But then, we started to see a couple kids in costumes, or rather just kids in sheets. I think one of them had a mask. But on our way back from dinner, we found the bar scene. Mostly it was just people out on a normal Saturday night, but we had to at least go check it out. We were somewhat impressed with the Halloween scene, and probably could ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... 8230;

First of all, we had a deadline. Something neither of us are accustomed to dealing with right now. Ferry departs Marseille at 7pm. Brian was concerned about covering the 100 km distance and finding the port in time. So, up extra early and on the road withour even eating breakfast! After all of the worry and fussing, and snaps of the whip to go ‘faster’, we arrived at the port at ...
Marseille, Provence, France 2totango... Aix...oh, the Brits abroad, mon dieu! Still, best 6€ I've ever spent. We've also been along to the cinema. Embarassingly, it was to see Fame but I'd like to point out how important cinema, and going to the cinema, is to the French. There are at least 3 cinemas in Aix, and there are huge film posters everywhere. 'Le Cezanne', has it's name lit up, and, unlike at home, the seats are like armchairs and there's plenty of leg room. But, like at home, it's bloody ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89Bonjour avec Aix-en-Provence Cherie
Since the last news we have visited the Cote D'Azur spending time at Monte Carlo and Antibes. We stayed near Antibes at a place called Biot and at night you could hear the seals at nearby Marineland - very strange. It was still quite hot and stickey with more mozzies. Monte Carlo was wall to wall money with billions of dollars in boats and cars. Antibes was similar but it had a lovely old town as well.
We arrived ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... myself to one a day for the sake of conscience. They’re the thin kind, too, so usually come folded like a paper airplane or even rolled up tortilla-style. Of course there are lots of Maghribian dishes in the Arab quarter- couscous etc., but that requires actually sitting down… ahem. Easier are the taboules and other salads available in the grocery stores. At least a steady diet of vitamins has finally ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... is the brioche sucre; mine is the pan au chocolat. King Tut was panhandling near the Eiffel Tower the other day when I was there. He wasn’t holding his hand out or anything, he was merely swathed in gold lame, wearing his ceremonial headdress, seated next to a donation plate.

I think that all travel experiences include at least one encounter with a crazy driver. Today we were impressed with how badly one guy wanted to pass people. He'd pass one, wait, then ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France 3beansabroad... bus. I don’t see how everyone can fit. They can’t. When the bus finally rolls in an hour late, only a fraction of the crowd actually gets on. Fortunately I’m one of them. Now the only thing I’m worried about is getting a room in Marseilles on a Saturday without reservations. Buddha says, "Don’t worry," but then he says a lot of stuff. But if any place is possible to get last-minute cheap accommodations it’s ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... puikiausi, tačiau islipus is jūros atsiranda ir siokių tokių bėdų.
La Ciotat, France kankel... rain for the first time in about a fortnight this morning quite heavily but it has cleared up now and it is boiling once again. We plan to move onto Nice and see Monte CarloMonaco before we enter Italy. We will keep you updated. The trip is excellent and apart from the hassel of setting up the bike we are hqving a great time and it is living up to expectation. Hope you are all well and enjoying whatever you are doing. Matt and Anna.
La Ciotat, France matt-d82... time waiting at train stations for the next batch of naive tourists. Well on this occasion we decided to take the chance and it payed off. We met Marliyn, a scruffy looking Italian lady in her mid 40s. She took us to a hostel for 20 euros a night which was rite beside the beach. Couldnt really have been better placed. Although, I had been sad to leave Paris and all the people i met there, Nice was the prefect impetus in the holiday. We spent six splendid days here, basking in the sun ...
