Beach life

... kids playing in the surf. Even the smallest of the tiny waves managed to make Asha scream with excitement as Liam clung to his mothers neck and/or bikini straps. Nagging worries about forthcoming logistics or life's little worries seemed to happily dissolve in the churned up water or disappear down the thousand tiny sand holes dug by a thousand busy crabs, all self ...

A battle with the elements

... to hospital on the back of a police bike and I walked with someone from the party who was kindly helping us.
The Thai hospital left a litttle to be desired but when I arrived, Fi was sufficiently bandaged and had been given some cream. Although it wasn't the best treatment ever, it wasn't too bad. I guess they are used to this kind of injury on the island!! We returned home where we got a little sleep, at least the beach base noise was not on our minds!!
Snorkelling and relaxing in Koh Lanta

We have been here in Ko Lanta for a few days now. It's lovely and quiet. We came by ferry from Ko Phi Phi and arrived yet again mid afternoon when it is stinking hot. We decided to stay at one of the places shown in a brochure to us on the ferry by a Tout. It was cheap and it had air con- which was better than the previous 2 nights. The resort was pretty nice- had a great pool and was on the beach. It was a bit clean but the ...

... coast. And, not to spare Anne the joys of backpacking, to get there we took an exhausting 12 hour journey in two minibuses, two car ferries, one coach, and one taxi. On arrival more relaxation was the order of the day. Things we loved: Anne 'the guest backpacker', Maya Bay, snorkelling, elephants, Chang and Tiger beer, sun-block and after sun, funny sounding animals in the woods. Things we didn't: crossing from west to east Thailand with numerous stops/changes.

... the MoonWalk Resort and noticed they had rooms available. It also had a pool and seemed a lot friendlier than our resort, it was close to the rest of the bars and restaurants too. On Wednesday we checked out of the Blue Andaman. We didn't say we were going to another resort, just that we were travelling around, but the man behind reception was really rude about us leaving!! We got a tuk tuk down the road to the MoonWalk, as it was hot and our backpacks were heavy! The ...

Wait a minute, they're not ninjas!

... some dinner. We were pretty tired at that stage but I was still trying to convince Rachel to go see the Muay Thai Kickboxing event that was taking place last night. She eventually gave in and we got the guy at reception to sort everything out for us. When we got there we were ushered in and told to take our seats, shortly after the national anthem was played and we all stood for it. There was to be 8 fights that night and as the first fighters came out I ...

... Pirates House, and our room was designed to look like a cave. It was pretty funky! (Laura appreciated the hot shower, a/c and the bug free bed!) This morning we took a boat from Ko Phi Phi to Ko Lanta... we plan to spend a couple nights here and then live out our castaway dreams on the very tiny island of Ko Bu Bu. We'll write again soon! xoxo Laura and Andrew

Day 43-44

... quiet! When we went down that afternoon you could count the people on the whole beach on two hands! Went in the sea too and there were some quality waves- really big! Messed about in the waves for an hour or so like little kids and then went to the room for the first hot shower we'd had for a while! Had dinner and then a couple of beers before bed. Day 44: Koh Lanta Had a bit of a lie-in, got some breakfast ...
