... good considering it was airplane food and I slept well/felt refreshed as we landed. Kudos to Iberia for a great flight!

After meeting up with the rest of my study abroad group at customs we continued to find our RD who gave us the orientation schedule for the week, as well as a ride to our host families.

My host family lives in an awesome part of the city, right near the National Library of Spain and a Hard Rock Cafe. About 4-5 blocks ...

... it is the largest of the 3 popular art museums and Kole did not care as long as we only went in one of them. It was enormous. We kept getting lost. By the 50th room, all the art started to look the same. The temporary exhibits are always a highlight for us. Just east of the 3 art museums is the beautiful Parque del Retiro. All the times I asked about the party she never thought to tell me that we weren't going! Sensibility obviously kicked in at some stage & we stopped at a service station. After having a little trouble with the Spanish pre-set bowsers we ended up putting in 20 Euro instead of 20 liters but thought it might be just enough to get us to Madrid & then the airport in the morning. ... loved so much he used it for his logo (so they say). Belle slept most of the way - we have bought some motion sickness medicine for her as she gets car sick in the mountains (as we found out coming into Granada) but I think it also makes her very sleepy!!

Anyway, castle is amazing - has undergone quite a few transformations over the many centuries and unfortunately caught fire some centuries ago so had to be rebuilt by a King ...
