... Asiana Air 747 airplane to Seoul. It was a 2 hour flight from Tokyo. Had a great lunch (beef with rice dish) on the plane. The Seoul airport is beautiful. It must be very new. The terminal is very spacious and clean. Have a 3 hour layover until our flight to Phnom Phen. We will arrive there at 10:55 pm.
I'm sitting at the airport now using their free ...
... weapons that have the potential to destroy all living things on the planet. You have the potential to remove them yet you do not. Your scientists run a super-collider under Europe that could possibly open up a black hole. You continue to bicker amongst yourselves about the planet`s temperature, wasting valuable time needed to prepare for a warming period. Yet your advances in medicine have cured the sick and improved the quality of life in so many. You ...
Uijeongbu, Korea Rep. morpheous... of all things. I have been know to be shown how to pose with my students while they are doing fictitious class work. And yes the school has the right to put your picture on a bus as they have done with Jamie.
I decided to go as the Black Spider man to our school party. I had help from Jenni, John, and Mel to design a web out of metal tape and then the next morning Eager came up and taped it on my wet suit. I some what ...
... he said it because I was late, but he seemed a little annoyed, possibly because I probably woke him up a few times with my packing and moving around.
The bus ride to Tao Yuan airport was smooth and really the entire trip to Seoul went smoothly other than the fact my flight was delayed about 45 minutes. When I got to Seoul, I didn't really know what to do. For the first time in a long time, I was alone in a completely new environment and unable to ...
... a celebrity.
But one of the things that I find most humorous is that I have had a number of Koreans tell me that I look like Matt Damon. I don't see it. But on this night, the guy who started to talk to me on the subway (not the drunk...the other guy) said that I looked like that famous movie star. Made me blush a bit even though I've heard it quite a few times ...
... in the subway, but the shopping centers (huge buildings with floors and floors of shops) was proving futile. Too expensive.
And I was getting a bit tired of how shop owners were calling out to me in English. I guess I understand. But they were being very familiar. "Hey, buddy! Come look at my clothes!". I answered them in Korean. I even told one that I didn't want to speak English. So funny ...
... to use their phones...and just worried about what was going to happen if I couldn't get in that night!
What else was I feeling that day? I could barely feel. I was just too tired and loopy! But...yes, I was really angry at the friend of my former student. I was ready to find a hostel to stay in. But...now a day later, I can say it was worth sticking it through.
15 hours later...I hit the bed and slept. :)
... meal for me. A bonus was that one of the women spoke some English so I could communicate with her and ask her some of the many questions I have! It was really beautiful and they told me to come back every day if I want. I thanked them for their generosity and returned to work. The next day I had to go to the hospital for my health check and didn't return to school until the afternoon classes, missing lunch. When I returned, "grandfather" asked me why I didn't go to ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. truddickInitially, I was disappointed with my schedule for the new semester, but I soon realised that there were some advantages as well. For example, I was now teaching the 'intensive' class who are a great bunch of students - so chatty and easy to get along with. They will take the full TOEFL test every second Thursday, meaning that I will effectively have the day off! Conversely, it means that Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be pretty busy, teaching three ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. rich... pee too? So, I walk in to the restroom and into the stall....its a squat toilet! Just a porcelain whole in the flood with a flusher for you to step on! That was awkward! Ha! A solid 95% of all my students have cell phones! They have them in their back packs or in their pocket at all times. It is so weird to get out of class and have my kids whip out their cell phone and start chattering away in Korean. My first class today is entirely made up of 8 and 9 year old girls ...
