... 7-8 minute walk, so we just walked together. His name is Yuwu and hes from China, been living in Aachen for 3 years. He speaks Chinese, English, and German. He was pretty cool and we traded emails when we parted. Maybe I will hit him up sometime to go do something, who know? (Don't get jealous Matt, I'm allowed to have friends, aren't I? :)
So I finally made it back home. Left at 8 this morning and got back at 6pm. I guess thats not ...
... and got a few things checked off of the list: Met with the rental guy and looked at the apartment and took some pictures of the apartment, then went to the bank and finished my damage deposit account and set it up so my rent will automatically be paid on the last day of every month.
I decided that I won't be able to go to Oktoberfest, at least not in Munich this year, anyway. I will try to go to another festival somewhere ...
Hi all,
Had a pretty lazy Sunday. I know that tomorrow is going to be very busy so I just wanted to relax today. Had apple strudel ala mode for lunch, haha. Then we had a turkish dish for dinner. It was chicken wings and sliced potatoes on a pan lightly smothered in tomato sauce with lots of spices and garlic. It was pretty good! I just dont like the skin or fat on chicken, and I dont like ...
After popping into and out of Germany, we were now back in Belgium. It was beginning to get a bit dark, and we still had at least 200 miles left to drive.
Gaz's motor was struggling, and threatening to overheat, so we stopped to let it cool down.
With the vehicles all decorated with stickers, we attracted a bit of attention, and a Belgian couple took our ...
... on.
We stopped at one point, because the roadbook wasn't very clear, at which point Gaz and Charlotte came up behind us. They had been left behind by the V8s, as they were in a Series vehicle, so we said we'd stick with them.
At this point, Kieran noticed a strange noise from our engine, which was duly investigated by James. It was diagnosed as the fan belt tensioning pulley. But we didn't do anything about it at the time.
lots to say.. where to begin?
On Friday we had a teacher outing to Stolberg. It is a very old city about 20 km from Aachen. We had a great time. The weather was very nice, for a change, haha. We first went out to lunch at a cafe. The food was pretty good, I had salmon and potatoes and salad. The only thing was we had to wait FOREVER (at least an hour) to get our food, and not everyone got their food at the ...
... ticket clerk, I got the "jon ay ploo". Luckily the chap did tell me which normal train would get me there. Very decent of him. Liège-Guillemins station is a bit of a building site. It is one of those fantastic buildings with a roof that is a massive swooping curve of a construction. In fact the building looks like some kind of space ship or UFO. The Belgian railways are pretty much ...
Liège, The Ardennes, Belgium jeremyhill... at my partner's best friend's house, which happened to be where one of my best friends was staying...convenient! We had a wok party...random but fun...and attempted to teach her dogs english. During the week I was the lab assistant's assistant at our host school, so I did a bit of fetching and carrying, learnt the names of a lot of random chemicals in french, and went to other peoples' science lessons since a lot of the time since there wasn't that much that ...
Liège, Belgium loubeeWe 'trundled down past Maastricht towards Germany. The deviations were big ones but we still were able to make good time! The scenery was worth the deviations though. We past by some wonderful little towns and river gorges. Very nice bit of countryside. Will have to return there sometime, God willing!
