Accommodation

Hotel La Siesta, Acuna No. 9, Tel: (01 842) 422-0374. Their current rates were 300 + 400 peso for 1 or 2 persons. The small, en-suite rooms come with cable TV but are a little overpriced for what's on offer.

On the Move

... also the home of many professing woman (around 20). There are no other professing males. The Garza family moved here from Monterrey two years ago to provide an open home. We had lunch with Sra. Lichas de Martinez, early meeting and potluck supper at Angelina Salinez. The friends prayed and a few of the workers took part. We are back to Rodolfo and Rachel ...

The day of the chosen one

What a day for traveling: sunny and warm. We left home early in the morning via foot towards the train station and then onto Newark Airport. Check-in and security was a breeze even when I was "selected" for "random" luggage check. Chilled at the 'port for a while, down a cold one with ma cherie and then up, up, up we went. Landed in Leon, Mexico to an almost surreal landscape. Well, not so much surreal than what I was used when I used ...

day 40- Puebla to Queretaro

... sized park, as well as a number of other plazas and gardens. Very busy and colorful- we found a parking lot and walked for awhile. Many beautiful buildings, churches and statues-- I'm glad we'll be spending a couple of days here. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, splitting a bowl of soup and an appetizer platter and having a couple of beers ($135). A good ending to what didn't start off that way!

... the Mexican verison on Lily Savage. The bar is full of men kissing and groping and all laughing at this Man/woman tell jokes. the bar is 2 for 1 beers so we sit down and enjoy the night. The next day i wander around this beautiful city and go on the Gondela čl teleficio`to the top of the hill that overlooks the city. You would swear you were in the middle of Spain here. All the buildings are truly amazing and the little streets are filled all the time with people ...

San Miguel 2nd entry

... to church to be blessed or something like that. They were always carried so delicately that sometimes it would not be until we got closer that we realized it was not a real baby. We saw a young girl walking down our street with a baby Jesus, she held her hand up and shielded his face from the wind and dust flying around as she walked past us. We saw men carrying them all over the place too. New Years was a lot of fun. We had planned to go out to one of the restaurant/bars to ...

... interesting city with lotīs to offer, but being a country girl at heart itīs hard living in a city with all the noise especially. At the end of the week we will be heading to Morelia and then to the monarch butterfly sanctuario. And we will visit the playa (beach) before heading back stateside. Iīll try to write more later, Itīs been a long day and I have salsa (dance) lessons tonight!

Superman has nothing on me

... those education films at school but itīs what youīre supposed to do honest), got to the bus stop and ticket booth, and had five minutes to spare to get my ticket and catch the last bus of the day to Chihuahua. Maybe Superman technically took longer to change his clothes in the phone booth, but in Mexican terms, that was a slick change of transport - believe me! Anyway - got meself on the bus fine - Iīll pick up in the next entry....

Rest Day At Last!

... of catching a taxi into the centre of town about 6km away, or simply staying at the hotel we spotted near the bus station. Due to the fact that it was already 9pm (we crossed a time zone on the way) and we were continuing our journey southwards the next morning, we settled on the latter option and decided to forego our opportunity to explore the city. After a quick snack we had a fairly early night, huddling under the flimsy covers to keep warm ...
