My Life In Windy Wellington One chapter closes as a new one eagerly begins. Our early Wellington Days were filled with much randomness, excitement, and brilliant acts of fate. Our journey to Wellington was a period of reflection for Sara and I. We talked about our past few months in Auckland and reminisced over our newest adventure that just happened in New Plymouth. Our arrival into Wellington was not at all what we expected. Because we chose to stay in New Plymouth a few extra days, our res...

Last night we played two rounds of Bingo, tried to win the life size poster of a gorgeous model sponsoring Bacardi (we thought it would be a nice housewarming gift to our new roommates), failed to get the poster (boo). and then went upstairs to watch the rest of Shrek 2.

We moved into our apartment at about 9:30 this morning and have since unpacked and got in some good computer time, which I am ...

Our compensation ended up being free french fries and coffee and that was only after a business man and this little scrappy truck driver *****ed for 30 minutes. Our situation wasn’t drastically effected and overall I think we were the least effected on ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand thehammsventure... the next couple of days, Lambton Heights B&B which was up on the side of one of these hills but only a short walk from the centre of town. Unfortunately no one was home, so I locked the car and went off for an explore. A nice lunch of green lipped mussels and wheat beer at the Mac Brewery in the sunshine on the harbour was had and a quick call located the owners of the B&B who were themselves ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand hadwin... The mountains were int he distance, the bay with sailboats in it. I talked briefly with a traveling girl who grew up in the States. Then I started walking to the campsite where I would stay. I got about halfway there and a kind local took pity on me (I must look pretty ridiculous with the amount of stuff I carry) and drove me another 5 minutes to the campsite. Don't worry that's the only hitch-hiking I've done. I set up my tent and just relaxed for a while. A ...

Oh well, live and learn, but I'll report back from Tairua Home soon! Miss you all (especially you Ma!) Holtze
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand dholtze... great views over the lake, then after a little free pool, we turned in. Tuesday 10th February Wanaka Drove off south of Wanaka to explore around the Treble Cone ski area. Passed the place where I'd been climbing on my last trip. Once again the ski area was closed so we spent a little time skimming stones and lazing before having lunch, which for Mike and consisted of an enormous sausage roll each! In the evening we went to the local 'Cinema Paradiso' and saw the latest Coen brothers ...
Wellington, North Island, New Zealand dave22... it was to our advantage the scenery was awesome just amazing, stuart decided to complain as the revs were reaching 300r but wow what a view,6,000 ft above sea level,on the way down we must have gone around 12 hairpin bends amazing! we then drove along passing miles & miles of lupins these were all different colours, they were introduced to new zealand from u.k. many years ago & they have gone wild, so they now are trying to irradicate them as they are a ...

But it just so happened that on the one day of the whole trip where I had constant access to mass media there came the reports of probably the biggest news event in the region for the whole year – the bombing outside a nightclub in Bali. So while I was enjoying the last week of my holiday before returning home, there were 202 other people who would never do the same, a number of whom lived in the same or neighbouring Sydney suburbs as me.
