I flew down south to visit some old friends who just got engaged, Justin and Emily, before heading abroad. They recently moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida where the average age is about 81 and all of the 4:30pm dinner reservations are already booked. To their credit, they do live right near the beach and have a boat docked about 200 feet from their house (the only ...

Fort Pierce has one of the most unexpected coastlines on the Treasure Coast in South Florida. From the high-rise skyline to the beaches with turquoise waters to great places to stay and eat. plus well kept state parks, an exciting sea-side city center. Fort Pierce is a must see. One of our personal favorite ...
Fort Pierce, Florida, United States idmartelMay 25, 2009 - The Great Bahamian Escape
Dave was up the earliest I've seen him - 6AM - today is our leaving Green Turtle Cay day and he's obviously anxious to leave. Carroll doesn't come in until 7:30 AM so that gives Dave his 90 minute start-up time he requires each morning.
Just around 7:30 AM it poured. As I cooked up bacon Dave opened the companionway flap and a battalion of commando flies swooped down through the companionway and ...
... only 5 miles from the Flying J!!! We stayed two nights at the "Fly", used many of the amenities offered there....a great buffet dinner, dump station, air for tires, diesel, showers, laundromat, and a decent store for all a trucker's needs. We found Pepper Park to be clean, friendly and allowed us to stay all day using the beach and the outside showers to remove salt and sand before getting in Crazy Fish. What a sweet deal!! We will be back.
Fort Pierce, Florida, United States jodieandandyWe were in Pecks Lake Anchorage for a couple days.It was absolutely awesome. You anchor in 6-8ft dinghy a short distance to a sand dune with palm trees land your dinghy and follow a narrow path then up the dune then THE AWESOME SIGHT OF THE BEAUTIFUL ATLANTIC ocean. It was windy and rip currents but none the less breath taking. There were ...
VERO BEACH, Florida, United States mainship... pushing copy--paste; copy--paste; copy--paste. . . ad infinitum. The pass that we were given to open the gate still doesn't work so we have to call into Security Central to be allowed into our area. The striped arms that go up and down to allow or deny access look pretty flimsy and I'm half tempted to just bust them down. That would be harder since I'm hardly ever driving. Linda claims that since this area is full of ex-New Yorkers she is the only fully qualified driver in ...

Port Saint Lucie, Florida, United States therican... little to the west of Cocoa Beach. Stormy, rainy and cold during much of january and february, with march being real nice again, but by the end of april into may it starts getting too hot for anybody that has to actually work outside down here and can't go to the beach every day. The other thing it did to me living down here was the fresh oranges and grapefruit were so ...
Jensen Beach, Florida, United States greenvanartusa... I stayed there into the next post. One other thought. They changed the name of Cape Canaveral to Cape Kennedy to honor the former president . Then years later they changed it back. What's with that? I've seen things all over named after presidents but I have never seen them change it again anywhere else. Maybe they should hve installed one of those flashing roadside signs that you can change the letters on.
