By bye Vegas - hello Hollywood

Lørdagen i Las Vegas kørte lidt af to forskellige spor.

Turister i Hollywood

On Sunday 1st March it was time to leave a drizzly San Francisco for a comparatively short 12 hour journey south to Los Angeles, although the journey seemed a lot longer slumming it in Coach Class. On Monday morning I got up early to have a quick look around before I met Seema, my friend who I met at Whyteleafe Travelodge in Croydon the whilst …

... the ruins are in the same state as they were when the earthquake hit. The church was rebuilt in a different location, behind the original one and a new alter was purchased from Barcelona. it is gold leaf and very ornate, but the rest of the church is handpainted by the local Indians. Here we saw the tiny hummingbirds feeding off the pollen of the flowers - one cannot imagine the thrill of seeing these wonderful tiny creatures busily going about their business.

... off for breakfast. The waiter was so surprised when I asked for pancakes...no bacon or sausage or eggs.....no thanks. I realised I was in the area of the Hammer art museum and as I seem to have a new found love for art I paid the gallery a visit, managed to get in for free as I am a 'student'. It was my kind of modern art, not the cube in the middle of the room type of place. I finally then got another bus to the Getty center. Set in the hills it had great views of ...

Historical Traveler Reviews BEST WESTERN Hollywood Plaza Inn Los Angeles

    Good location

    from Augmento

clean, small room, older motel style, i am not fond of this style of motel but was a good deal for price and convenience. was hestitant to book based on previous reviews. made a point of checking the pool and it was open.

Great Inn Close to Hollywood Attractions

    from anonymous

Staying here was a delightful surprise!! On Highland Ave just a 3 block walk to Hollywood Blvd and right around the corner is the Kodak Theater & Grauman's Chinese Theater & souvenier shops, not to mention The Walk of Fame & a Metro station. Street level is parking, Hotel Desk, pool & small restaurant. Rooms on 2nd & 3rd levels. Our room was spacious, clean, updated and pleasant, located on the 2nd level. Mirrored exterior is a bit deceptive as what is hidden behind is a charming array of balcony walkways open to the fresh air from above which lead to your room. There is a view of the parking area below if someone is picking you up, view of the pool area and a nice estate at the rear, and busy traffic on Highland in front of property which mirrored exterior does give a nice view down the street while blocking noise from the street.

Great place to stay if you are on a budget and want to be in Hollywood and close to attractions. While we really didn't need room clean up for a 2 night stay, staff was more than helpful with providing clean towels and coffee as we has Do Not Disturb sign up. Walk to Hollywood Blvd was short and not difficult to manage even though we both had mobility disabilities. An easy & safe walk to & from in afternoon and then back again to witness the comings of celebrities at a premiere of a movie at Grauman's. They don't let you get too close to the 'stars', but, you can get a great look at the action. Ask desk staff to arrange airport transportation, but, do so a day in advance. Don't miss breakfast in the restaurant. Full American Breakfast plate made to order for under $5. Was closed for lunch & supper meals. Refrigerator, hair dryer, iron & ironing board are in rooms.

Only drawbacks: If you are used to having luggage delivered to your room you will be disappointed, however, luggage racks are available in the reception area & an elevator is right there for easy accessibility. We could mildly hear cars starting in the parking area below our room which was barely noticeable to us, but, if you are sensitive to outside noise it would be equivalant to that of an outdoor motel. We stayed at a fancy hotel at the beginning of our trip which in no way compared to how nice this Best Western Inn was in room size, comfort, cleanliness & pleasant staff!! Would definitely stay here again if back in LA area.

    Toronto, Canada

    from anonymous

My wife and stayed here the week of October 23 2004. We enjoyed our stay. It is not a 5 star hotel but if you want a 5 star pay for a 5 star. We flew into L A X from Toronto and after 9 hours of travel the hotels pool and hot tub were very nice. The staff were simply there to tend to the hotel, like I said we got what we paid for. The room was a place to sleep and shower. It was clean and acceptable. The area was not a resort by far but we had no issues. It was nice to be able to walk to Hollywood BLVD and areas like that. We did not use the hotel cafe. There is a great Dennys on Santa Monica & Gower. Basically, if you are looking for a place to rest your head and relax in a nice warm hot tub and cool clean pool I would say for the money, this is a good spot. Great location...

    from anonymous

We stayed here on August 22, 2004, primarily due to its proximity to the Hollywood Bowl. If you are planning on attending an event there, this is an excellent place to stay!

While the room was clean, nicely appointed and parking was not a problem, the pool and jacuzzi were closed due to some sort of contamination. And although the front desk assured us that everything would be cleaned up and operating the next day, it was pretty obvious (the next day) that nothing had been done at all to rectify the problem.

Other reviews on this site have alluded to cleanliness 'problems' at this property...while the room itself really was in good condition, I would have to agree that the pool area was definitely NOT up to snuff.

A great location in Hollywood, and if everything is in order then worth considering for your next stay.

Should have learned in Redondo Beach

    from anonymous

We should have learned from the last Best Western but I guess you get what you pay for. This room had mold growing around the ceilings I doubt it was even safe to sleep in Thank goodness it was only for 1 night. I can definitly say we will NEVER stay there again

    Unacceptable, dirty, motel

    from anonymous

After a long extended airplane trip, we arrived at this motel that had almost a half page ad in AAA book, plus we seen the picture online.

When we pulled back the bedspread, the sheets had hair all over them.

After calling desk, a worker came to the room and handed me a set of sheets to put on the bed. When I pulled off dirty sheets, the mattress pad was filthy and had hair on it. At this time, a different room was offered. (11:00P.M.)This room was dirty also, but we laid on top of bedspread with our clothes on until morning. Not only was the sheets old and stained, the heater in the room was full of lint and dirt. The carpet was very dirty and stained also. The tub needed a good scouring.

We then found a clean motel (Comfort Inn) across the street.

My family of four stayed for 4 nights

    from Cee

This hotel is acceptable, however, we did have some problems with ants in our room and had to be moved 3 times before before we found a room with no signs of ants. (though we did find 1 in the bathroom on our last day) The staff were very courteous and helpful during this time.

The rooms in general were otherwise clean. I'm quite sure the ants have to do with the concrete they are digging up in their very cramped parade below. We did end up in a deluxe suite which was much nicer and roomier than the regular room, with a quieter and newer air conditioner, a tv minus the fuzz and more channels. We didn't have any neighbors either. I wasn't very happy with the laundry facilities - the dryer took forever to dry anything and one of them didn't heat at all.

The fact I had to go next door to the Holiday Inn to get change for their laundry facilities numerous times was annoying. We didn't get a chance to eat at the coffee shop as the older waitress was extremely rude for no apparent reason (not happy with her job we assume) and we did something we never did before - we walked right out! We ended up next door at the Holiday Inn yet again where we ate happily for the rest of our stay. We used our airmiles to pay for our stay but I doubt we would stay again - rather go to a nicer area. I wouldn't totally discourage anyone else to choose the Hollywood Plaza Inn for location and convinces. Book the deluxe room if possible.

    Avoid if possible

    from anonymous

Avoid this MOTEL if possible. Its ok, but there has been a sewage smell the entire time, and our friends got a really bad room with a stinky red "hot tub" that looked like it'd been used as a toilet. Be aware that the neighborhood is not great either. All in all, you will be better off spending a few more bucks a night at a better place in Santa Monica or surrounding areas.

This hotel is extremely unaccptable. Actually it is a motel and charging you for big price. Although its location is good, there is many choice nearby. The photo from the web seems good, but the real story is wholly different. The room are dark, dirty and really public and no privacy. They provide "NO" customer service and also meaningless advice. There are two people on the frontdesk, one guy and lady. They provide NO valueable information to us. The lady service is good but only know to say "I don't know", "You have no choice". For the guy, he become very rude after we refuse he order a taxi for us.. It is a motel that u worth to go to see how bad a motel can be. It worths only 10-20 USD per night, but they are charging around 100 USD. I am sure you will regret to be there.

Good place at a reasonable rate

    from mcvegas

Rooms were average. Place was quiet at night. Check in and out was quick and courteous. Coming in to the hotel off of Highland was an adventure due to the heavy traffic on Highland at all hours. We'd stay there again.
