... socialising and catching up with each other. The people we have spoken to are really friendly and have a good chat to you. The elderly ladies in the street usually give you a big smile and say 'Kalimera'.

We took the little red car and headed off South to look at some temple ruins and some of the beaches. Demeter's Temple ruins were from 500BC with an amazing backdrop of mountains.

The paddles cost 3 euros, the sun lounges 3.50 euros each, but we kept the sun lounges the whole day. Things are well priced on Naxos, there are a lot of tourists here, but it is not as busy as Mykonos, Santorini or Corfu. Again we could buy refreshments, food, coffee, beer, whatever ...

Actually, once Knox got over the fact that he was actually going to have to climb the mountain, he was in good spirits and we worked our way through herds of goats chewing away at the many large prickly weed bushes. We counted 28 lizards both on the way up and down, and enjoyed beautiful views of Naxos and the neighboring islands along the way. Not surprisingly, we ...
