... br>We eased our way into the trip - five nights in Koh Phangan with 30,000 tourists will do that - but some of our most memorable moments definitely happened once we stepped off the road more travelled.
Thailand's north, and Cambodia full-stop was of course trampled by tourists, but I guess there was a sense that these people were still living the way they wanted to. I'll never forget the gruelling seven-hour trek through the Chiang Mai mountains. The view ...
... br>I tip toed around the airport for a little while, and was then greeted by Sonia and Chris, the 2 Australian girls that had come to Ottawa a few weeks ago! They were seriously a godsend! They drove me to the hotel, the Bentley Suites, where I dropped off my luggage and quickly changed before leaving again to head to downtown Canberra for some lunch. The town itself is very comparable to Ottawa.. except it has a smaller town feel to it! We had lunch and champagne at this caf ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia caro_paquette... from us so we could unpack it - where all the stuff was I don't know but we made 3 trips back home just to unload the car and van! Washed and polished it, had a new power point fitted and had visitors also. Annette and Charlotte came for a lovely visit in the morning, and Helen and Eddy Kuit and their grandson Isaac came to share a bottle of champers with us to christen the van. Isaac didn't have any, of course, we wouldn't ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia madnomads... Werkstätten aufgesucht, doch keiner wollte unseren alten Bruno operieren.
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia vrone... and open, but we did have an awsome view over the horse stables and adjoining arena and were kept reasonably entertained by the horse people and their weekend event. We even had an evening of the trots (harness racing)on Monday night. Over the weekend we checked out the local Farmers Market that was just a short walk away - it was in the showgrounds too. It may sound hard to believe, or maybe not, but we ran into our friendly travelling family again ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia serenitynow... being "for the third time we did not use the mini-bar", so we'll see does that work... 16th got money back but no reply to letter of complaint, again I say '5 STAR MY ****'! I put review on tripadvisor and yet another nut emails telling me the 'rat bag' (I quote) unions make the hotels pay extra on public hols, eeehhh the hotels also charge the patrons extra on those days too, dick wad. Could it actually be, and I know this is radical, the staff are just **** and the ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia danskgirl... out where we were staying that night--the first hostel of our trip--the Canberra City YHA hostel. Now, as many of you know, I am opposed to staying at a hostel because I am 30. However, Paul was actually interested in staying at one at least once, and it was the only place that fit in our budget, so I went along. It was actually a very nice hostel--very clean, lots of space and amenities. And, surprisingly, there were people of all different ages ...
Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia moppet77... Highway' suggests you're in for a bit of a treat, whether it be a relaxing drive in the mountains with the occasional photo stop, or in my case a full on screamer, which believe me, is a very lively alternative. The road itself is much better than it looks on the map and cuts tantalisingly through the middle of the Kosciuszko National Park, affording you a delightful spread of luxurious ...
Queanbeyan, NSW (and Canberra, ACT), Australia scottwoz... we headed to the Hunter valley for a night to do some wine tasting with Kenny and Johnny. We hired bikes to cycle around the wineries not realizing how many hills there were! We had a really nice time trying wines, tasting cheese and looking at the amazing scenery. In the evening we had a lovely bbq and played some fun drinking games.
