... tuxtla, which we were greeted with as we got out of another crammed colectivo by a couple of merry mexicas which included an off duty police man who insisted on following us for 3 blocks to advise us on following the word of the lord while flashing his id every opportunity he could. A very special man.
At least though he prompted us to get a taxi to the bus station as at this point we were going to get another cramped mini van to get across town but pc pedro was that ...

... will speak about it next day, some frinds of us have just come to take us up. So, I must leave...we are already in Guatemala, by the way. But, as gesacht, I will speak about it all other day : ) Kisses ...Ok, I continue where I left it. We were in that Karaoke with the mexican guys. There is something in Mexico called "Toques", that is a kind of electroshock. They ask you if you want to have it, and then you can join the hands all together and the current go from one to the ...

... and cheaper, and smaller and less beautiful. I think the draw are the things to do/see around here. We followed Marald to a place called Casa Margarita. It was very expensive for a hostel. That was because it was a hotel, not a hostel. The Malteasers decided that since it was their honeymoon, they would pay to stay there because it was nicer than most of the places we'd find for cheaper, and Pete, Marald and I went out in search of a hostel called Planet Hostel we'd been handed a ...

Massive move into Chiapas

... the border in Matamoros and couldnīt find the highway south. We discovered that every single road in eastern Mexico was labeled 180, you just needed to know where you were going. I followed 180 until it turned into a closed bridge...dead end. We got directions from two different people - now I was using profanity. I was making turns left and right and ended up miraculously on 180 again, going toward the Cordoba highway...just like we wanted. The ...

... else's head is obstructing your view. It's also way too loud to talk because of the engine. The canyon was probably spectacular in the 1970's before they dammed (damned?) the Rio Grijalva creating a 25 km reservoir. It's still pretty impressive. The walls of the canyon tower over the water leaving a tiny bit of shoreline for bathing crocodiles who still manage to survive here. I wonder, though. about the impact of damming the river on their overall ...

... were Israeli. Now, I had noticed a lot of Israelis around all through the trip, or at least those I thought were Israeli (it has actually gotten to the point where I can usally recognize Hebrew now, just not speak, write or understand it), but I had no idea there were this many. I mean, the whole country of Israel only has 7 million people for god's sake (I mean for mary's sake, or am I supposed to say for chrissakes? Not sure.) Anyway, I was invited to join in ...

... The ruins were visible instantly as we reached the top of the road. To be honest, we were not very impressed as it appeared that we were going to looking at half built walls and piles of rocks. Not to be discouraged, we pressed on a decided to go up to the entrance and take a closer look....mainly because the entrance to the ruins was free because it was Sunday. We were greeted at the entry by a number of men competing to be our personal guide ...

... also making his way down to Panama. Soon after we arrived at the town of Chiapa de Corzo, we boarded a launch that had us flying up the river toward the canyon. Some of our fellow boaters decided that sunbathing in their bikinis was more important than wearing a lifejacket, but after we sidled up next to some dense reeds in the boat, and saw a rather large sunbathing Crocodile, we were glad for ours (although perhaps wearing flourescent orange in ...

Wonderful old colonial city

... tree sap which is 40 to 50 million years in the making and it is mined in Chiapas. Insects are sometimes preserved in amber...remember Jurassic Park? Amber is generally sold to artisans who polish and shape the pieces and also use it in jewlery. I'm leaving in the morning for Palenque in northern Chiapas...more Mayan ruins there...and then off to the Yucatan.

... to the canal. I think people just dump their trash into the water without thinking. To be fair, most of the canyon looked clean enough. The trash "only" congregated in certain bends. The walls of the canyon rise up to one kilometer high and are covered in greenery. We saw the occasional spider monkey, bats, cranes and small pelicans. On the shores we saw at least a dozen crocodiles sitting there with their evil grins. You know who I'm talking about, Crocko. Keep your teeth to ...
