We were up and out of the hotel at 7:00 AM on our way to Krakow, Poland.

We crossed over the boarder into Slovakia, and stopped for a coffee break. Back on the bus we continued our journey, stopping for lunch around mid-day.Before leaving Slovakia for Poland, we stopped for a photo opportunity at the Orava Castle, which is situated on a high rock above the Orava River in the village of Oravský Podzámok, Slovakia.

We passed the 4,000 mile mark on yesterday's bimble, but today it's a day off the bikes. We're going to a castle!

Orava Castle is built on a hill overlooking the village of Oravský Podzámok, on a bend in the River Orava, in north eastern Slovakia.

It was first mentioned in chronicles dating back to 1267 but there had certainly ...

... was great. Our guide, Marijan, gave us a comprehensive overview of the history and architectural styles of this part of Europe which was very helpful. We could see several cities and towns from the highway and very noticeable were large apartment complexes painted in a variety of colors. These utilitarian complexes were built post WW I, partly as a reaction to overly decorated ...
