Mornington Peninsula Treats

We had an early start for our trip down to the Mornington Peninsula. We wanted to get to the Hot Springs by 9.30 as they get very busy on weekends. At the moment there's 4 public outdoor pools, which are fed from natural springs. There will be more pools in November as they are doing extensive building, but we didn't notice the work. The setting is very natural & relaxing. The cool air was quite refreshing as we moved from pool to pool: Winter is quite a good time to ...

Round The Twist! Mel-Ade

... JamFactory and got really excited ran over there only to find it was a contempary art gallery, so we turned around dissappointed and carried on. Walked down Hindley st and Rundle Mall and saw the Silver Balls. On Rundle street there were random sections of pavement that had all sorts of coins pressed into them. Then decided i wanted my hair cut and it was only $30 bargain! Then headed towards Central Market before it closed at 5 and say some ...

On the Great Ocean Road

... guess this is already a start, if you can discern the travelling tips from the rest of my venture into writing something that is legible... More on this later... Anyway, back on the Road I decided that my "thing" (that's what I do) for this trip would be to have at least one swim a day. We stopped around Lorne to get another swim before sundown, and discovered this really windy point which we thought would be good for a few pictures (is it Point Grey?)

Driving Miss Daisy

... towards the Twelve Apostles, which gives the Cape version a run for its money. The highlight of the drive was coming across a group of about fifteen Koalas 'hanging' in the trees. Rather stunned by the three days of beauty we headed inland to Noorat (a farming area) to visit a family friend and meet a couple of local people who all tried to convince Kirsty she needed to move there to help with the GP deficit, while Mike entertained the ...

March of the Australian Penguins

... walked in groups waddling along the beach. Sometimes they'll all retreat back into the water if they hear something or see something that seems like a threat. The first night we checked it out we turned into icicles by night's end but enjoyed it. We got to get pretty close to a couple but were separated by a guardrail. The next night we got to go on the Ultimate where there are no rails and you're literally sitting a few feet away from where they make their ...

Penguins, Sand, Coolness, and Money

... He plied us with his sons homemade beer and marinated dolmas for almost two hours while we hung out in his comfortable studio. He then invited us to dinner with his friends... But alas, we were wanted to spend out last night in Melbourne in the funky Fitzroy neighborhood we had come to love so much. Plus Fitroy was a lot closer to the airport than Red Hill! So we took our leave, saw an amazingly calm and colorful sunset on the bay side of the penninsula and headed back to civilization.

Suburban Peace in Victoria

... is the most US-like country I've ever been to! The people have been so friendly and helpful too! One day after Kathryn taught a workshop on the other side of town, the four of us went to a friend's home for dinner (one of the the local workshop organizers) and had the best time! Joined by another spiritual-minded friend and her family, we enjoyed food, conversation, and our first glimpse of an Aussie home and how ...

"Bring It All Back Home"

... was the greeting from Wagner. Seventy-three days is long time to go without your dog. Children can keep in touch, but he can't call or email. I've missed the exuberance and devotion of Wags! And it's a long time when you keep shifting house. I've missed my own bedroom/bathroom too. OK - I missed the offpsring as well. But it's been a good seventy-three days. One pair of nail scissors confiscated at HK but nothing stolen ...

Fun Fair Fotos

... they gave me another hour and sat in the lounge downstairs. Respect for others, likable personalities, and positive attitudes are traits embodied in this group of twenty something mates, who are on a road trip for as long as it takes, and love to have fun, even if it means wearing dresses to get free drinks on ladies night. They remind me of my college friends: crazier than most, but when necessary, get the job done better than most. Their just aren't ...
