Visit to TRF, Minnesota

A travel blog entry by noeljrblog on May 26, 2015

For the past couple of years, Sheila and I had planned to visit Thief River Falls, the hometown of my dad. My dad grew up in TRF in a family of thirteen (one was dead at birth). TRF holds a lot of fond memories for me as I grew up. My family visited many times. I still remember the good times with my aunts and uncles (mainly Don and Tress Noel and Art and Virginia Buringrud) and my cousins (mainly Greg Buringrud, Mike Noel, Julie Noel, and Tony ...

Detroit Lakes, MN

Traveled to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. We are staying overnight at Forest Hills RV Resort. The resort is located on a nice golf course. Unfortunately, the golf course is maintained with Toro and Jack equipment.

On our way to Detroit Lakes, we explored some of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes. We seen a lot of water fowl but that was really the extent of wildlife we encountered.

Chilled out the rest of the day.

Happy Trails,

Traveled today from Grand Portage, MN to Bemidji, MN. On the way, we missed Betty's Pies. The parking lot was packed full, no place for the truck and coach.

Bemidji is the home of Paul Bunyan and his blue ox Babe. We checked out the statue by Lake Bemidji while on our way to dinner. We will spend the overnight here and head to Detroit Lakes, MN tomorrow.

... relax mode and not in a hurry to get there. We are waiting for the weather and trying to just get in the slow mode of life. Trying to see nature as God intended it to be. What a beautiful country we live in and everyone should take the time to enjoy it. As my father always said, "Take the time to stop and smell the roses."

The next stop will be a park named after a president. It will be two days travel so we won't be on line for a couple of days.

... attractions, the cleanliness and hospitality was exceptional. My perception is that these African countries will continue to grow, but have challenges, as they deal with increasing populations which are becoming more educated, and more connected with cell phones and the Internet. The migration of people, both blacks and whites, between the countries ...
