Gatlinburg Vacation Day 1 We started off around 10:00 am for Jackson to get Kaleb. After picking him up we headed south for either Tennessee or somewhere close. Woke up this morning to 22 degrees and clear. Yesterday it snowed on and off all day although it never did stick to the ground. Now we have officially reached the coldest weather we will probably see on our trip. Love our down comforters.

... dancing and climbing trees for a full 24 hours. The fact that this was voted everyone’s favourite day says a lot about the close connection of good friends, children to be able to connect with others so easily and the simplicity of a home cooked meal together with some old fashioned ball in the park. Not a piece of electronic equipment in sight nor asked for for the whole day.

Planning the drive from Washington to Kentucky with 10 people is no mean feat. After a few minor dramas of the vans that we had booked and paid for prior to leaving Australia months before we go to collect our van we discover there is no van available. Fantastic! This means that we have several trips back to Washington airport to swap cars to get the correct vans. Disaster averted.

The following morning we start out early (up at 5.15am) ...
