Very nice hotel. The lady at reception was very helpful (my wife likes to check things out), showed us a room, checked us in, no problem. Convenient, they told us good place for lunch and dinner, all good. Obviously an older property, but very well done. Would definitely return.

    5200 miles so far.

Down from San Antonio. So glad the traffic wasn't bad going south. Not much between SA and Corpus, just HUGE fields along both sides of I-37, plus a few oil wells, and more windmills (not like west Texas, but quite a few. Drove through Corpus Christi. Very impressed how large and prosperous looking it is. Course, I …

We took the last few days of our trip to visit Mark's brother Brad, and his girlfriend Camilia. Checking our bag in Mazatlan earned us a fee. At least we only have one now! I was also not allowed to carry my new tortilla press onto the plane...in Mexico. We were only given soft-drinks on our international flight from Mazatlan to Dallas. American Airlines, and airlines in America in general, are the worst in ...

... Maybe, but my best guess was that it was a bunch of little bugs in the weed that glow when they get irritated. I kicked at the seaweed and sent the green glow through the air, toying with it. Was overly amused. The ocean, like space still blows my mind, the vast unknown. All the animals alienlike, scary. But, Being next to it, in it, also brings a feeling of freedom. That's why I'm here in corpus christ Texas on padre ...

... to say, it played a key role during the latter part of WWII in the Pacific. Eventually, this ship was decommissioned in 1991 and is now here in Corpus Christi as a National Monument.

This western side of the Gulf is a much busier place than we earlier thought. It has tourism of course, but what we noticed the most is the huge amount of OIL production throughout the area. There are so many oil rigs out in the ocean; I counted 14 from our walk on the beach. ...

... where he could play in the sand. It was very crowded so I suggested that we return to the campground and go to the beach area where it hopefully would be less crowded, so I called Bob to pick us up and we started walking to the rendezvous area. We walked on one of the boardwalks which led to a hotel area. As we walked to the entrance road, I spotted a security guard and asked him the way out to the road. All he was interested ...
