... trees. We stopped in the pretty little village of Montville on the way back for a look round and a cup of tea, It's at the top of a hill looking over the countryside all around.

I have spent the last four days in Cairns and returned to Maroochydore yesterday. Cairns was great and I shall write in detail on a separate blog. Back here today we have been up to Noosa National Park, beautiful sandy beaches with rocky backdrops, lush vegetation ...
Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia jillybear... on it's "simply couldn't be bothered to eat rats" face. After a day or so they took the rats out and let the snake go. I figured it was only fair to be nice to the rats (i.e. feed/water them) since they had faced death and lived to squeak the tale. Lee tells me that the littler of the boys has taken a fancy to them now and no wonder, they were lovely! Lee had been lovingly restoring a boat prior to my arrival and we all couldn't wait to get it ...
Noosa, Queensland, Australia bernadineMaroochydore, Sunshine Coast, why they call it sunshine coast? no idea, we've had rain just about non stop. We have had a swim in between showers, but had to be quick. There is plenty to do though and we drove to the hinterland and Glass House Mounntains. Visited Debbie and Keith in GHM, Derek used to work with Deb at Ansett, talked ...
Noosa, Australia joergen... Straddie has a tiny tourist population and an even smaller local community so most of the beaches are deserted and hauntingly tranquil. Thinking this was as good as it gets, I was ecstatic to find an even more beautiful trek at Point Lookout. The North Gorge Headlands walk was Australian beauty at it's best: a myriad of plantlife, flowers of a kaleidoscope of colors and of course turquoise blue water. You could see manta rays and turtles in some ...
Noosa, Australia aurora84... has seen this town become a holiday destination for the wealthier Australian. This is evident walking up and down the main street which is home to many fine restaurants and all the rich old couples eating in them. We managed to find a decent campsite and indulged on one of chef Jose's bbqs including tasty kangaroo fillet. The weather started to get a lot better so we thought we ...
Noosa, Australia hudsondino... to the hostel, which was not easy due to lack of sleep and food, but we made it in one piece! As always the greyhound had run late, so that had ruined the possibility of me being able to dive HMAS Brisbane that afternoon, so instead me and Kim walked to Maloolaba and relaxed on the beach. When we got back to the hostel, Maren, one of the girls from the bus ...
Maroochydore, Australia emilybs... The tightness around the shoulders held my arms away from my body, but it would certainly keep my trunk from freezing in the water. My lower body would be another matter. In any case, we were now ready to try some body boarding. I had tried this many times at several beaches in Florida, but let's just say the Pacific Ocean is a different beast altogether. Neil quickly informed me about how I should head out-walking backwards with your flippers ...
Caloundra, Australia mattadorlife by a rainforest Hi, we are currently camped up (well, last night is tonight) in Forest Glen Resort which is situated beside a small rainforest close to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. It has rained every night, and when you are sleeping in a tin can it can be loud at first but relaxing after about 20 mins and we have slept very well due to the rains ...
Maroochydore, Australia karenandchris... couple who couldn't stop complaining that Thanksgiving should be in October; and Ryan & Kellen, two guys from San Diego who checked in to the hostel five minutes before we sat down to eat, so we invited them along. It was great to have both people who had never eaten Thanksgiving before and people who were pretty much resigned to the fact that they were going to miss out on Thanksgiving this year. It was awesome!
