... cord when my bus's dot got close to my hotel dot. **** I'm good !
Unfortunately, as I got off the bus, the heavens opened an it ****** down. Luckily I only had to walk 2 blocks so I didn't get too soaked. I checked into the hotel and dumped my gear off. My collective bus trips had taken around three and a half hours and had cost be US $6. If I gone by taxi it would have taken about 35-40 minutes and cost about US $80. Time ...
... I was quite close to the front of the plane, so managed to get off early and leg it over to Immigration. You would not believe that it took a little over 2 hours to shuffle to the front of the queue and be put in a line for the desk. They only had 6 ...
... Miami people are very active and the boardwalk was full of walkers and runners and everything in between. We found a quiet spot to pick up a bagel for breakfast and then strolled back to our hotel to pack and get moving to Fort Lauderdale. The taxi ride was $80 because its quite a distance from Miami. What a difference 25 miles can make. Fort Lauderdale is more American as opposed to the more Latin / Cuban Miami. We got out of the taxi and went ...
... past eight months. During my first round, I started with a trip to the Philippines, then worked my way eastward to Barcelona, Spain, stopping by home in Washington to repack. I took a 15-night cruise from Barcelona to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, aboard Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas with stops in Egypt and Jordan. I then went to Pakistan to see my friend Steve, a U.S. diplomat then stationed in Islamabad. I concluded the first round in Oman.

Now then, back to my flight, 14J was a comfortable seat next to a nice Danish man who was taking his family to Orlando. Unfortunately the tray table had Brewer’s Droop and I had to change seats.
However luck was on my side as I ended up on an aisle bulkhead seat with nobody next to me. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews BEST WESTERN PLUS Oakland Park Inn Fort Lauderdale
Please note: We DID NOT stay at the inn, so this is just a caution. I reserved on line, and clearly my fault, I didn't change the month box, so instead of a Feb. 12 reservation, it showed Jan. 12. And I didn't discover it until Jan. 16. I phoned right away and explained, but to no avail. I would certainly take the room for Feb 12, but the manager said they were sold out. The 800 number showed that not to be true, and a lovely woman from customer service tried to swap dates for me. But the manager would not consider it, even though she had space open, and I'd offered alternate dates too. I'd think guests would deserve a little more consideration. We all make mistakes, and it would have been good PR to meet me half way.
We stayed one night at this hotel (motel?). We were downstairs next to the tiki bar which wasn't the best experience because you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the bar. Luckily for us Hurricane Rita was blowing by so most people decided to leave the bar area. The room was renovated with weird modular furniture, the floors were SOAKED with humidity, my shoes were entirely damp the next morning and truely we felt like we slept in a basement. The AC is LOUD, the customer service was unfriendly.
We endd up staying here by chance, after driving up from Key West a day early, so we knew nothing about the standard of this hotel. However, we were extremely pleased with what we got, especially after staying in the Fairfield Inn up the road the next night which was awful.
It was a great place to stay. The rooms were very clean and done everyday. The pool was adorable, nice size and the tikki bar has great drinks. Reasonable prices for drinks. You can bring your own drinks as long as you don't bring glass to the pool area. You can even bring food from outside. Great restaurant right next door and several others near by. Nice place for kids too. Would recommend and I would definitely stay there again and plan to.
C'mon, it's just a motel after all!
For a place to sleep, it's not bad. In the middle of it all and for an average of like $65/night with taxes, it's not too bad. The staff is friendly and quick to fix any problems with the rooms. Plus you get a fridge and microwave too in the rooms along with coffee maker. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants as well. And downstairs has a nice pool and "Tiki Bar" (although that stupid device they use to measure the shots of alcohol has just gotta go, hehe). So ya, it's not too shabby.
I recently stayed one night at this hotel and one was enough. We thought because it has the Best Western name it would be up to their quality. It wasn't even close. We had made our reservations a month in advance for a non-smoking room but when we arrived they said all they had was smoking. After telling them there was no way we could stay in a smoking room due to allergies, they "found" a non-smoking room for us. The place is very run down and in a bad neighborhood. The rooms all face the pool area which has a outdoor bar. The music plays there very loudly and with no seal around the door, you can hear everything that goes on there. Our toilet tank had a leak so all night it kept running every few minutes to refill itself. There are tiny ants that were found running on the bathroom counter as well as on the night stand and I didn't feel safe taking my shoes off with a very dingy looking carpet. We travel often and stay in at least 6 to 9 hotels a year and in our 10 years of traveling, this place was the worst. I would not reccommend to anyone.
I just recently stayed at this hotel and would like to say please don't go there. I prepaid for the hotel online a month in advance. When I arrived to check in, the hotel said they needed to put a 100 dollar hold on my credit card for incidentals. When I check out they told me that there would be no charge and the hold would be lifted. Later I found out that the hotel had charged my credit card twice for a total of 300 dollars and I am still waiting for those funds to appear back on my card.
I spent two weeks at the Best Western and it was an almost entirely positive experience. The rooms were clean and presentable and the maid service was above par. There was always ample parking the desk staff were pleasant. The breakfast was a bit spartan but I still worth trekking to the breakfast room for.
Just got home from Ft. Lauderdale and wanted to write a review on this hotel. The Best Wertern Oakland Park. Found this gem on Hotel .com.It is an old hotel recently renovated with all the modern amenities one could want. Has a great isolated heated pool with a bar next to it. Plenty of free parking all around. The rooms were spotless and maid service was excellent. The front desk staff could not be more helpful. I had a problem with the phone and there were three staff members in my room in minutes to fix the problem. They have a free continental breakfest that could use some improvement but its free and the people serving you go out of their way to make you happy. The staff is what makes this place so good. Do yourself a favor and save yourself a bundle of money and stay at this place. It truley is a gem.I hope yous entd this refview to the hotel itself they deserve a good job well done.Am booking with them again in February.R. Colonna Chicago

Just do not go here. I want this to get printed so I will leave out the details but this place is a horror show. I tell you all as a friend not to go here. Bobby Townsend Warwick, Rhode Island
