    ... we took the historic bus tour, visited Morden Mine, Piper's Lagoon and the Bastion. The Bastion is a 19th century wooden fort so small as to not be worth the effort. The next night my friend and I spent at home again though, comforted by self-made food and busy planning our forthcoming trips. ‘Where are you going today?’ had become our daily routine and be sure that the answers changed every ten minutes.     ... have any hope against these forces? Melo describes his ministry as "accompanying the victims". The country is a country of victims, they have been exploited and controlled by the American government for more than a century for the benefit of a few companies. A ministry to accompany the victims does not provide a lot of room for celebration.

    But what I saw was a people who struggle to get somewhere, to provide some decency for their children, to live and to celebrate ...

    ... see on our drive to Nanaimo. One such place was called Goldstream State Park. We arrived here about an hour into our drive to find ourselves parked between many huge red cedar trees. They had to be at least at least 80m tall and were so wide at the base. Massive!! Some of them were over 150 years old. Parking underneath them and even walking through them we were in awe. From here we headed off for the rooughly 2km walk to the visitors centre. This walk was through more red cedar and ...
