    After coffee and donuts we left to see the Everglades which we had passed last night, so needed to travel back 30 miles to Everglades City. We did not want to miss the opportunity to see an alligator .We had a great time speeding through narrow Everglades, the 'captain' sped us around in circles several times, I held on for grim death and Liz hung onto her hat.     ... and particularly the shells on the beaches. It is a quiet island with a speed limit of 35mph and cyclists and pedestrians always have priority.

    We parked up at one of the beaches which was beautifully sandy. The sea was quite cold to swim in though. As expected the amount and variety of shells on the beach was most impressive. Jane did spot a less than friendly jellyfish though which puts you off going into the water.
