Up early and ready to roll, a sunny 74 deg. We were originally going to have 2 days in Miami, to prepare and chill out before we set off on the next driving session but as we had had an extra days 'chill' in NOLA, we decided to stick with the master plan.............

Tracking east on highway 41 we drove through the Everglades, stopping at an Indian village for lunch - deep fried alligator was on the menu. Tip - it tastes like tough chicken.

We got lucky with the weather... It was supposed to rain a lot but so far, it has been pretty nice. We stayed in St. Petersburg for a night and are enjoying some beach/pool time in Naples.

It's pretty hot and humid here and we decided to rent a cabin for a few nights... sleeping in the tent is not really a treat :)

This was so much fun,....our 'captain' DJ too us through the mangroves and over the grasslands. As we were coming back to the boathouse, he spotted two alligators ...

... and particularly the shells on the beaches. It is a quiet island with a speed limit of 35mph and cyclists and pedestrians always have priority.

We parked up at one of the beaches which was beautifully sandy. The sea was quite cold to swim in though. As expected the amount and variety of shells on the beach was most impressive. Jane did spot a less than friendly jellyfish though which puts you off going into the water.

    After a most ...
