8 hours of driving today -- down through Georgia -- only just missing the traffic for the Atlanta Braves game -- crossing into Florida and g was pretty excited at that -- he thought we must be almost there now -- but another few hours after that! At least this time, we were early enough (but only just!) to stop at the OFFICIAL Florida Welcome …

I was awake before 7:00, but it was after 8:30 before my guys got moving. We had cereal in the room and collected our supplies in the backpacks for the park. I decided on Magic Kingdom, since we planned on Disney Studios and Epcot on Tuesday. DH was driving and said I didn't need to be looking at a map, he knew where he needed to go ... however …

... and was very convenient. Half a day and $500 later, we had new clothing, new shoes and a new suitcase to put it all in. The car was dropped back at the Dolphin and we caught the boat down the canal to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Unusually for us, the transport system has been working really well and tonight was no exception. We dined at ...

Later I went on "safari" in a huge truck, and spotted all sorts of African animals. Unfortunately, the other ride that I tried to go ...

... the line was just enormous). After receiving our personalised key cards (which we get to keep) and obtaining our coupon pack, we lugged our bags just a few hundred metres more to our amazing room. Finally it was time for the excitement to hit us, and we bounced all over the room as we fantasized about ordering room service and gasped at every new fact in the guide book. It wasn't long before our stomachs finally got the best of us though (we ...

    Basic but adequate

    from anonymous

The motel is situated directly opposite wet 'n wild and location is very good for all international drive activities, sea-world & universal studios. Shuttle bus service to universal provided, travel to Disney would have to be arranged independently. Hotel staff coped well with 'Hurricane Charley' and provided special restaurant facility for dining during the hurricane! Breakfast is also excellent value at $5 per adult and free for children.

Rooms are well equpped, decor satisfcatory. However the hotel accepts guests with pets and we suffered from flea bites due to the previous occupancy of a pet. Hotel staff were not sympathetic and the matter was unresolved for 3 days.

Pool is safe for children, pool bar / snack bar not very good.

Providing you get a pet-free room, the motel offers fair value for money- the strongest features being the location & breakfast!

Liked BWM till check out time

    from cindy

At 1st arrival our reservations were not correct. It took a lot of time to get things straightened out, but we were given an upgrade to a jacuzzi suite as an apology. Suite was very nice. At departure time we needed an one hr check out extension because flights were delayed due to G. W. Bush arrival. The management absolutely refused even though

I am very disabled and need to have my feet elevate to alleviate pain. No one there seemed to care, all over 1hr. I also might ad that we had been staying there for a week.

    Very damp. not comfortable

    from brendac

I stayed here for 5 nights while visiting Parks in Orlando. The location is good. but hotel I was not too keen on. The room was big but damp. The airconditioning was outdated. Everytime we walked into the room their was a musty smell - I wasnt comfortable at all. It was a case of sleep and get out quick. bathroom was small and basic. price was ok i suppose but I would prefer to pay more for a comfortable room. we left with colds and sore throat.

    Very Nice Basic Hotel

    from anonymous

We stayed from 6/9/04-6/12/04 while visiting DisneyWorld and Universal. We spend most of the day at the parks so we were looking for a basic room with a nice pool at an exremely affordable price.

Hotel well kept, clean , nicely sized rooms .

I would recommend it if you are looking for cheap digs.

Better than what we were expecting

    from Alkaz

    Stayed 01 May until 15 May 2004

Booked though Direct Holidays, Was a bit worried at first after reading reviews on various websites. But when we got there breathed a hugh sigh of relief.

We were first time visitors to Orlando but found hotel without any problems straight across from wet n' wild.

Staff were friendly and helpful, we had a leak in our bathroom at they were up to fix it in minutes.

Our room was a pool facing one, very clean with modern furniture and TV etc, air conditioning. Could maybe have been painted in a brighter colour. Bathroom spotless with hair dryer and coffee maker. Only complaint about room is that it is tiled when you come in the door and there is a gap of about 1 and 1/2 inches so the sound of people going by gets in. Only time we really noticed it was the first night when it must have been most of our floor checked out at 0530 hours and we could hear all the doors banging, just a pity they do not read the signs in the hall asking for you to be quite in the corridors. Apart from that never noticed much sound.

A bit annoyed that the in room safes were not able to be used, when we asked we were just told that they were waiting on new one to be installed, and no reassurance given that we did not need them. But luckily we did not need them.

Hallways could maybe do with a lick of paint.

House keeping was excellent fresh towels every day and beds changed every 3 days.

Swimming pool was nice always busy though.

Black Angus steakhouse that was attached onto the side of the hotel was great , staff were really friendly and the steaks were value for money and tasty. Had buffet breakfast in there most mornings.

There was free bus to certain parks, did not use as had hire car.

Universal studios was only a 5 minute drive, easy to get to sea world and disney parks.

Lots of shops and restaurants near by.

Will probably stay here again hopefully next year, and hopefully they will have there new in room safes and maybe a lick of paint in the halls.

    Good Hotel Great Location

    from anonymous

Stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks in October 2003. The location is great - across the street from Wet n Wild, and 10 minutes walk to Universal Studios if you dont want to take the car. There are free shuttle buses to the theme parks and a Black Angus steakhouse on site, although many more restaurants nearby. Rooms are very clean and nicely decorated.

Didnt experience any noise, pool was not that busy either this time of year. Definitely go back again as it is great value.

Good Hotel close to the action

    from anonymous

Stayed in November 2003. Excellent value for money. Good location on International Drive for all activities. Nice pool. Just make sure that you stay on the pool side of the hotel & not the motorway side as that its a bit noisy. We aksed to move rooms which they accepted without any arguments.

Not sure would stay here again

    from anonymous

We stayed here in 2002 and were slightly dissapointed. Although the room was very spacious, the hotel in general was noisy and the fact that they do not offer any shuttle service to the parks makes getting to them very awkward if you are not driving. Pool was nice, but very busy and there is no restaurant in the hotel at all - or a bar. ok if you want VERY BASIC

    Nice, but noisy!

    from Dus

We stayed for 3 nights in BW Movieland early October, after season.

The hotel is very solid, what you may expect from BW. Rooms are spacious, bath room is clean. The pool area with Tikibar is OK and the location on International Drive across Wet 'n Wild is good.

But don't go here if you also want to enjoy your rest.

The doors let through a lot of noise and the tiles in the entree part of the room improve the effect. I woke all days around 7 in the morning because of playing kids and slamming doors, which is not my idea of holiday.

Without the noise it would be a more than average hotel.

    Great hotel

    from anonymous

Las Palmas is a friendly hotel with clean, comfortable rooms, a good sized pool and a restaurant offering a wide variety of excellent dishes right on the premises. It is an ideal base from which to visit the theme parks and the various attractions on International drive. We were pleased to see the extensive refurbishments and improvements on our second visit in April 2001, just one year after we first stayed in the hotel. I highly recommned it.
