    ... about all the stuff - the house painting - the photo editing - the preparations for my departure on tuesday for Portland. So I said good-bye Otto and set off from his place with my kayak back on my car around 12:30. I made it home by 4 pm and tried to get some things done, but as usual as soon as I brought out my paint can, the sky darkened. Oh, well - tomorrow, it must be!

    ... they weren't optimal. One was too sttep. One was too far away. While exploring the put-ins, we met a couple from the Carolina's who had spent much time in the Adirondacks when they lived in Rochester. Oh, oh - was she Chris and I have forgotten his name. Very pleasant people. They said they were checking out some of the historical sights. Otto suggested we follow Tahawus road and see what we could see.

    Waitsfield is on the edge of the Adirondack Mountains so we headed up through this interesting area. The weather was cold and misty so no scenic views this morning. First stop - car ferry across Lake Champlain from Charlotte to Essex. The wind whipped up lots of whitecaps and the 25 minute crossing was pretty rough in some places. Then off to picturesque Jay - turned out to be on our way but we couldn't resist a photo! It is only a very small town, not even a coffee shop for morning ...

    ... office building with a beautiful rooftop pool. After a quick McDonald's dinner we headed to the Jazz Festival. As we walked around we found several stages at which we could stop and listen to the music. The highlight was Florence K-an amazing piano player/singer and entertainer.     We took advantage of the beautiful sunny day and spent most of the day climbing to various elevations. First, we went to the Olympic Ski arena. We took the ski lift to the top and had a beautiful view of the surrounding areas. We also saw skiers practicing on a plastic grass like hill. We also saw freestyle skiers.
