    ... to ascend 8000 feet and we were not going to do it quickly! Thinking back on the journey and I remember that the scenery was relentless, the kind of scenery that you marvel at but then we had already been on the train for 4 or so hours and you can only look at it for so long and be amazed! I remember getting an almost instant feeling of regret when reading my book or when we had some food in the buffet car (overpriced but of a reasonable standard). ...

    I slept well, and took full advantage of a non-car-based sleeping area. I checked out at 11:59am...just avoiding extra charges. Tonight, a friend from Saudi Arabia (not a Saudi, but a Welsh-woman who worked there) was flying in to join me for a bit in the area; check out Copper Canyon and all that north-central Mexico has to offer.     ... took me to a Drive Inn for afternoon beers and a chamorro (pork leg marinated in a sauce of bell peppers, orange juice and dried Poblano chillies) served with a heap of tortillas. The Drive inn was originally just a big lot with parking spots and food stands where you could buy your food and beer then sit in your car to eat.     ... 12 hours south that same night, but as I got in towards the city centre, I got really sick and as I crossed a main road, had to stop and violently throw up everywhere. From there, I decided I wasn{t well enough to travel that same evening, so found a hotel, checked in, then went to find an internet cafe.
