    ... who had lost his keys and as far as we know is still wandering around the rainforest (Kama). We then met one of the rangers who said that there is always a couple of platypus in the rock pool we were just at and you have to be extremely unlucky not to see one (yep thats us). After the circuit walk we went back to the rock pool and had just about givin up when a platypuss popped up and had a little swim.

    ... the jeep. Those in the back however were lucky they didn't suffer whiplash. Funny that was never mentioned in the two hour safety briefing! Lake McKenzie is fresh water lake of what is the clearest water I've ever seen it was absolutely beautiful. It was a bizarre experience to be able to swim underwater with your eyes open without coming up with them stinging from salt or chlorine. I tried to take some pictures with the GoPro to show how clear it was but they don't do it ...

    ... a couple of days ago. All was going well until the two dogs came racing out and frightened the 2 cows and the calf and sent them running into the long grass beside the track. The calf disappeared about 100 meters into the paddock. The cows weren't paying any attention to me as there was so much feed around and they wouldn't budge.     Left Airlie Beach in the rain and spent two nights in the very isolated Cape Palmerston, south of Mackay - a lovely new caravan park by the beach, well laid out with fabulous amenities and heaps of space between vans. Lots of people from down south go there for the fishing and spend months! We spent a day in Sarina, the closest town a 40 minute drive away, and did the sugar mill tour which was really interesting, followed by lunch at the bakery and shopping in ...
