Friday, July 31, 2015. PCT day 103. Miles 1662-1682.8 JenRaffe and I were up by 4am and hiking by 5am. We had about a mile road walk before hiking on trail. By 5:45 there was enough light to be able to see the poison ivy and oak. There was too much of it that it was annoying. JenRaffe was falling behind but I pushed on. After 10 miles and ...

Thursday, July 30, 2015. PCT day 102. Miles 1647.7-1662 Sleeping in today, I didn't leave camp until 0800. I figured that it was all mostly downhill into town with a 6 mile road walk. We were keeping a good pace. I even woke up at 5:30am and was hiking by 7:00 Occasionally I was doing 3.5 miles per hour. The trail passed through many burned areas and skirted lakes. With a many marble rocks on the ground and huge towering marble mountains, its apparent why they call this place ...

... at DQ again for some breakfast. After carbo loading we headed to the crater! It was only a short 3-4 hr drive. As we pulled out of the woods we got to climbing. Unfortunately it was pretty much a straight uphill climb with a pretty steep ascent. The Jeep held its ground for a while....but without a break in the climbing the temp gauge started to climb higher. I was getting nervous. I just needed it to hold for crater ...
