... and instead went out to a great classic Provencal dinner, and got some good wine. But then, we started to see a couple kids in costumes, or rather just kids in sheets. I think one of them had a mask. But on our way back from dinner, we found the bar scene. Mostly it was just people out on a normal Saturday night, but we had to at least go check it out. We were somewhat impressed with the Halloween scene, and probably could ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France tommcatt... planning at all!

But tonight we’re talking a relaxing voyage by boat over the Medeterranian. Which will be followed by another. A few relaxing sailing days it would seems. Not exactly what I thought we were going to be doing, but it will work. We have our own berth with a shower and bed. Oh the luxuries never end! At least these 2 fools will rest well tonight and prepare for what lies ahead.
Marseille, Provence, France 2totango... year.

Pour conclure, as I feel that this 'essay' will do for now, I've really noticed the French love for dogs...there are more fat dogs here than there are fat people, and they take them everywhere, even into shops and supermarkets. Hygenic?

So, all in all, the first 6 weeks have been awesome. This week I got a pretty bad case of the homesickness and generally feeling a bit low, I forget that for the first time in my life I'm actually living on my own ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, France cft89Bonjour avec Aix-en-Provence Cherie
Since the last news we have visited the Cote D'Azur spending time at Monte Carlo and Antibes. We stayed near Antibes at a place called Biot and at night you could hear the seals at nearby Marineland - very strange. It was still quite hot and stickey with more mozzies. Monte Carlo was wall to wall money with billions of dollars in boats and cars. Antibes was similar but it had a lovely old town as well.
We arrived ...
Aix-en-Provence, Provence, France falkewind... sequence touching land in a tornado and leaving buildings lying limbs akimbo in its wake. I like entering at some unknown entrance and just seeing where the maze will spit me out, as long as it’s still daylight. The main street is Canebiere, which I affectionately refer to as the ‘canebreak,’ in homage to my roots, and from there streets radiate in all directions.

Marseilles is pizza ...
Marseille, Provence, France hardiek... still be drinking German beer out of some plastic sippie cup.

I hope this guide helps anyone who wants to tackle Marseille. All of these methods worked time and time again for me. Trust me, France is worth the aggravation because it really is a pretty country with some awesome food. We are moving on to Malaga, Spain and Gibralter next via good ole Ryanair of course so I will update you with the latest and greatest from there later on.
Marseille, Provence, France atlpilot36... Marseille and then take a train back the 35 miles to Aix. We traveled in First Class, and stayed in a handsome 4-star hotel overlooking the old harbor--a lot different than the days when we stayed in hostels, and for some reason were suspect enough that my friends and I were asked for our cartes d'identite by churlish and hostile police as soon as we arrived in Marseille. It may have been that we looked like hippies--although I think it was more that we looked like ...
Marseille, Provence, France travelingmom... new residential ward on the islands. Fortunately, the building program was only partially realized. There are now less than one hundred of permanent inhabitants on the islands. A dozen of restaurants located in Port-Frioul live mainly from summer tourism, but most visitors prefer to go to If. Today we took a boat out to Château d'If.. One of Marseille's most popular tourist ...
Marseille, France matt_and_ames... buy another one. Another 120 Euros that is pretty unecessary. And it's a less-than-hard-man scooter one. The full face I'm-the-man ones were 250plus. I'm willing to sacrifice my masculinity for money. I have also decided that my French isn't as hot as I thought it was. In Tunisia I could understand 90% of what I heard. I knew there was something wrong. It turns out that Tunisians speak French very slowly, with a very small ...
Marseille, France charlesaclark... whatsoever that bothered me the most. I think what killed me was that she was dealing dossiers out of the back of her car like drugs to eager addicts. How unprofessional! How disorganized! Placed in a dichotomy against how she treated her superiors, the way she treated the assistants and our paperwork (a.k.a. our lives) was atrocious. She had literally arranged a pomp-and-circumstance procession for a token appearance by the ...
