Travel Blogs from Los Angeles
After checking into our graffiti-covered hotel, we went out for something to eat, but that was about as much as we could manage, since we'd been up for 24 hours. Having climbed into our gorgeously soft king bed, my confused body woke me up at regular intervals, thinking it was really time to get up. By 6 am here, the combination of the rising sun …

Comemos bem …

Great location but sub-par for the price
The hotel is very close to the Venice Beach boardwalk -- a big plus if that is what you are after. On the downside, the hotel is a bit expensive for the amenities offered. Additionally, we were booked into a smoking room after reserving a non-smoking room (and the previous occupant must have been a heavy smoker -- three days of airing at every chance did not eliminate the smell). We will definitely explore other options rather than staying again.
We recently spent two nights at Marina Pacific Hotel in a suite with partial ocean view. We paid $159 a night for our off season stay. The room itself was very clean and spacious. Family room, dining area, full kitchen, separate bedroom with king bed, bathroom with separate vanity area outside the shower/toilet room. The showerhead was MUCH TOO LOW! It was no higher than my neck at 5'10" and my husband who is over a foot taller had it even worse. Rooms have no frills but pretty clean and quiet on the 4th floor. The view was not worth it however as what we mainly saw was the parking lot directly behind our room which looked as though it housed homeless people frequently. The sofabed (which we only needed for sitting on) was so terribly uncomfortable and the cushions not big enough to cover the gaping holes to where the sofabed pulls out. We eventually just began watching TV in our bedroom on our bed one evening since it was much more comfortable to sit there instead. The location was half a block to the Venice Beach boardwalk but the area is not very good - maybe that is how most of Venice Beach is. We felt a bit unsafe walking around at dark and so we left this hotel a night early (planned on staying 3 nights) to go down to Anaheim and stay at Disneyland Hotel and visit Disneyland for a day. Free breakfast was ok for one morning, after that we had no interest in repeating the same old thing - one cereal dispenser, bagals, bread, pasteries and juices/coffee.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The free shuttle bus to Santa Monica was excellent.
? Best Value in the West
we recently spent 10 days at Pacific Suites.......using it as a base for travel in LA area and for Venice beach itself. Fantastic value.a phone call got a rate of $149/day for a suite that 2 adults and 3 teenage kids were happy in. adequqte cooking facilities in suite cooker, microwave, fridge. the continental breakfast was extensive.even for the fussiest of our 3 kids. this alone saved us probally $20/day for breakfast. Staff always knowlegable and helpful.
Room clean, tidy.all in all a steal at this price.especially for UK travellers or European guests, it provides a safe, clean, excellent value especially if you have 3 kids
I disagree with the comments of the writer from Geneva regarding the breakfast room and the breakfast content. Yes the room was a bit small and could be cramped if you went at the busy time but you could take what you wanted back to your own suite so there was no need to feel uncomfortable with the surroundings. I cannot believe the breakfast changed in one month from just a bit of bread and fruit to the options we had:
I would like to say the Marina Pacific really lived up to the photo in the pamphlet! Our suite was great! With the separate bedroom and the large living area, the kitchen, we felt like we were in an apartment! Just great! The staff was always very polite and helpful. The room was clean, the bed in the bedroom was comfortable, The pullout couch was, well, a pullout couch, all in all we were very pleased and would stay there again! Also, it is a great location to the action! Close to the beach, and all the shops and vendors, Why am I not there right now?
Great Find at the Beach!
We found this charming and classy hotel during our drive down the coast of California from San Francisco . We stopped in Santa Monica at the beach-close hotels but the rates were really high and we luckily found this hotel less than one mile away at the beach for a much more reasonable price. One of the reasons we really liked it was its proximity to the ocean, literally a 30 second walk. The artwork on the walls in the hotel was intriguing and interesting, all original art and photos. This was really unique. The staff were extraordinarily helpful, giving us great recommendations for restaurants and local sightseeing. Our stop in Venice Beach was one of the most memorable of our trip and this hotel enhanced our experience. Check it out!
Really, 200m from the beach!!!
If you want to stay in Venice then this is the place. No kidding, it is very close to the beach (as well as the canals) and a partial beach view room, which we had, will give you a very good view of the beach and boardwalk. Complimentary continental breakfast and a 9 dollar charge on parking (logical, as parking is a luxury close to the beach). Only gripe was that the staff didn't open then the phone, even though I gave them a card to do so (you need to tell them apparently). Still a great experience.
We'll definitely return!!
We loved this hotel! Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly front desk person. This friendly attitude existed in every interaction we had with every employee. The hotel is in an ideal location- The exciting Venice Boardwalk and ocean are just outside the hotel. They have a free shuttle which we took to Santa Monica one evening. (about 5 min. away) The room was very clean. Basically, we were glad to have chosen this hotel. We will definitely return.
