Our week in Renaca, Chile was quiet in comparison to our travels since we left Maine on January 2nd. The plan was for us to relax and take it easy, perhaps lying on the beach. Mother nature didn't cooperate with the weather. It was much cooler along these Pacific Ocean beaches. That didn’t stop the Chileans and Argentine families there on vacation. Hundreds and hundreds would take their places on the beach and only a few ...

We went out looking for some dinner and decided to try Alta Mira brewery bar. Their menu looked pretty good so as well as David having the beer tasting paddle of 4 different ales, we ordered their gourmet chorrillana to share. The beers were good, especially the Irish Stout, the wine was good and chorrillana was exceptionally good and made with quality beef. We spend a pleasant hour sipping beer and watching the scenery, which includes never ending plumes of smoke from the ongoing fire. Time to head back to HQ, we find a bus parked up, Deb speaks in her best Spanish to the driver and before we know it we are back on our way to Vina Del Mar, this time a more scenic route at a more leisurely pace. A trip on ...

... Vista Hermosa overlooks the main shopping street of Vina – but also the Oasis nightclub and Sportcafé. My word, can the youngsters of Chile party; quiet as mice until 1am – and then the party starts. One finds that the days start a little later, so much so that we slept through an earthquake early one morning (4.8 Richter scale).

... to get all the flavours then spat it out once done. Seems a really waste of wine but that's how professional do it and we wanted to do it properly. We then taste the wine by drinking it normally and it sure does taste a lot different. With our meal we were allowed one bottle of wine so we opted for the white one as it was really good. 1st up we made a Salsa called Pebre which would be the 1st course, this is served in all Chilean restaurants with bread before ...
