... drunk a fair amount of it!! Either that or the sulphur was getting to him in the tractor.

The following day Simon got to enjoy himself more taking part in our kayaking day on the river. We enjoyed a lunch of emu, widgetty grub (for those brave enough!) and kangaroo (I couldn't bring myself to eat that-they are just so cute and cuddly!). We were treated to some really interesting Aborigine stories from our excellent tour guide (tour ...
Margaret River, Western Australia, Australia s_bennett... up the long soft sand dunes proofed too much for the Cruiser, and nearly at the beach, we had to turn back to the road. Turning around was no mean feat either, I might add! For a while there, I thought we might be on the track 'til someone with a winch came along. All good fun, though disappointing that we couldn't get to the beach. Two nights in Margaret River Camping Ground, to re-charge everything, check the emails, pay ...
Margaret River, Western Australia, Australia lizmac... his outstanding firelighting skills and set us a roaring fire in no time. Of course fire lighting and tending is more MAN'S BUSINESS and the FEMALE has to ask permission to put another log on the fire. Sunday 29 March - Pemberton to Shannon National Park Today we climbed the Gloucester Tree - originally a fire lookout but today a tourist attraction for those hardy souls who aren't scared of heights. It's 60 mtrs high and ...
Perth, Western Australia, Australia liznrob... a National Park campground we had discovered near Warner Glen, that had good sized sites for caravans (Warner Glen had more tent sites). Janet and Brian met us there and we had a pleasant couple of days catching up on the past few weeks news and canoeing on the water (though we couldn't go very far there). It was better for swimming. It was certainly far better for caravans than Warner Glen but had no mobile phone reception so that was a bit frustrating. From there ...
Margaret River, Australia robncarol... could take 40 so we felt quite lucky that we'd be given full time attention. It wasn't too long before we arrived at an area they called "Spot X" which is where they most frequently find the dolphins, these ones of the Bottleneck variety. We were suited up in our wet suits, complete with mask and snorkel, and a belt with which we'd form a human chain with our guide who had one of those mini personal propeller things (I think they call them Seascooters ...
Margaret River, Western Australia, Australia sonandjimOf all the places we'd been to so far, Margaret River had to be my favourite! Full of cool surfer dudes (and girls obviously), some funky pubs, cafes, some beautiful beaches, it had to have it all! We started off low key, with a few nights in Conto's, a national park site by one of the most famous reef breaks in Margaret River. The campsite was pretty impressive, one of the best we'd come across! Unfortunatly, it also had one of the most ...
Margaret River, Western Australia, Australia laura-scot... br>
Our final stop for the tour was the cheese farm, where we tasted some delicious home-made cheeses, and I also had a fantastic mango milkshake that makes me lick my lips just writing about it! Katie & I managed to not buy anything but Si & Lisa got stuck in again!

Wally then drove us and our happy tummies ...
Margaret River, Western Australia, Australia al_fey... had a pleasant surprise when we woke up... we saw dolphins swimming and playing right in front of us in the ocean! We also had the chance to see a huge sting ray (like the one that killed steve irwin...), it was really close to us and some guys were trying to take underwater pictures...
Ausgusta / Hamlin Bay, Australia froggies... dips and hummous with added bush ingredients like lemon myrtle, cold meat, tomoto bread, olives, strange edible plants and of course...a witjuti grub pate!!! It had a whole witjuti grub in it, luckily not a live wriggling one, but even so it was enough to turn my stomach! I did try some of the pate (it would have been rude not to after all), but I can't say it was altogether pleasant...but at least I gave it a go! We then went on to a chocolate factory ...
Margaret River, Australia sharonmanship... to staying at a backpackers once again - also the first time after New Zealand - so we went and booked into the second backpacker of the small town of Margaret River. We had a couple of drinks at Margaret River Hotel - the only place that seemed to be frequented on a Friday night - and enjoyed the start of the tour. A life band was playing and it was quite a good atmosphere. After that we called it a day, and even though the backpacker was dodgy and ...
