Ruskin Place Musings
The struggles of the salmon to swim upstream, drawn by a
force they cannot explain. The tragedy of seeing their dead bodies strewn all
over the mud flats. Yet this is somehow balanced by the beauty of the
landscape. The ebb and flow of the tide, that mystery that I have yet to
comprehend. The mischievous morning mist who feel that revealing so much beauty
to my eyes all at once would be too overwhelming, so ...
... and then I caught a Greyhound out of Chilliwack to visit Vancouver for the weekend. Rae met me at the station and we did what we always do when we reunite, whether it's been 2 years or 2 weeks since we last saw each other: we return to our regular programming.
I couldn't possibly think of a more fitting way to end the day than to attend an arts showcase called Brief Encounters ...
... lights, but it was really dark...
We had our complimentary champagne and a few extra beers and enjoyed the ride.
When we got back to our cabins, they'd been transformed into sleepers. The beds had folded down from the wall and roof, and we had 2 sets of bunks.
Now the train is rocking us to sleep as we head over the Rocky Mountains.
... in all, another action packed Gogranny Adventure.
Now all I have to do is get off this ship at the right time in the morning (we've got another time change overnight - clocks go forward again as we head to Vancouver), get myself and my luggage to the airport and home again via Los Angeles with a six hour stop-over and Sydney.
I leave Vancouver at 1:40pm Saturday and arrive home at 2:40 on Monday.
Well... After a night on the airport floor and a 10 hour plane ride we have touched down in rainy Vancouver. Our emotions were all over the place because we were happy to be home and to see our family, yet we were sad to the sudden end of this trip. Sometimes life happens in ways unplanned and you have to go with it. Jade and I are back in Canada because of a few factors.. And yes it's sad that ...
