Santiago is a large, extremely hot city I found out. In the days, temperatures are around the mid to late 30īs, and the only time it lessens is at five in the morning, for an hour, where you need to put your blankets on your bed, to kick them off an hour later. My backpacker lifestyle had begun. Its very different from any other part of my trip, which has been either centered around one location, or travelling with a group using hotels. Here, you meet new people every day, of every nationalit...
Santiago, Chile emmairelandThis was our 3rd visit to the city, we had visited it as the first port of call when we arrived into the continent over a month ago, then we passed through it half way through our time on the continent, and now we had 2 days here to at least get out of the airport. The city itself is not on the usual list of places to visit, but its close proximity to the Andes and the Pacific coast is what brings tourists here. From the time you get out into the city, you realise how modern and Western the c...
Santiago, Chile marie_mc We flew into Santiago from Punta Arenas and took the transfer bus from the airport to Los Heroes Metro station and then walked to the hotel. It was quite a hot afternoon and more of a walk than it looked on the map with bag!
The Majestic had had mixed reviews on Trip Advisor but it was relatively cheap and very handy for the Plaza De Armas, just a 10 minute walk. We were also very close to Santa Ana metro. We didn't try the Indian restuarant but hear it is very good. The breakfast was ...
Some how when I booked these flights, I didn't think it would feel like we were jumping on a plane every day, but that's literally what we've been doing and tomorrow will be no exception, with a 9:25am flight toRapa Nui (Easter Island). There has been one good side to this, with the plane food being decent, we haven't actually had to spend much on food ourselves ... I know, small consolation! In all this plane talk I forgot to mention, we're now in Santiago, Chile. Our arrival at the airport ...
Santiago, Chile orlanIīve been in Santiago 5 days now and itīs been great so far! My first impressions werenīt so good because I stayed at a Best Western in downtown Santiago the first night. Unlike a lot of Latin American cities, the downtown here is not so nice and people keep telling me not to go there. In downtown there are beautiful old immense Spanish buildings intermingled with construction sites...not so pretty. But then I moved to a hostel near the University and the area is really beautiful, with parks ...

... swimming. The train was also not running so we took the bus the 485m from Plaza Caupolican, at the north end of Pio Nono in Bellavista to San Cristobal's summit. We saw the Virgin statue and then chose to take the bus back down instead of the cable car. We then made our way back to the metro and returned to the hostel, stopping for a cheeky snack on the way. We spend a few hours relaxing before preparing tea. We then played cards and read before getting an early night.
Santiago, Chile dlz... We had to take three different lines, but she knew without hesitation how to get to our final destination. I would have been there for awhile, studying the maps in the tunnels. We scooted back to the hostel, went to bed, for a new day, OUT of Santiago! I had concluded my airplane business, and we wanted to get to Mendoza, for the wine festival before we missed out!
Santiago, Chile bourlingueur... in thickening darkness past the tables where beer was flowing but dinner was not served because it was still too early for dinner, it was a bit disorienting, almost as much disorienting as when I had been sitting in Santiago airport waiting my flight to Mendoza and looking to where should have been a city and where I could see only a brown haze and I thought you don't need to imagine parallel worlds, you could just be at this time at this place in Santiago and feel it.
Santiago, Chile fram-o... jullie op een afstand hebben kunnen laten mee genieten!
