Oyster Bay

We left St Helens nice and early for our trip to Oyster Bay. We had to be quick as we had a lot to pack into today. The drive was only a few hours but then it is quite a walk from Oyster Bay car park up to the viewpoint of Oyster Bay. it was a rough climb for Mum and Davo so they called it a day when we wer p ther and I trecked on down to the actual bay which was nice and spectacular but ...

... make while eating.
They growl, fight and tear their way into the meat. They all got a piece of meat each but when they ate it, they'd chase the others around for theirs so the devils knew the grab a piece and hide.

While this is a shocking image photography wise, I like how the centre is semi-focused while the faces are blurry. I think it emphasises the fighting, grabbing and speed required for these devils ...

... there so we could really see the place so early Saturday morning we set off for the beautiful drive down south.

Port Arthur is approximately 120kms from Hobart and offers something for everyone. There is many small towns along the way including beautiful Sorell.

As we were driving along, we remembered about the little shop/café that sells Crayfish rolls so as we had just gone past it ...

2 Heads are better than 1 !

After an early start - which was helped by a brilliant sunrise over Coogee, we headed to the airport for our flight to Hobart, Tasmania. The flight was uneventful and over before it got going, with a text book landing - which was nice!. We cleared immigration and customs without incident ( 1 woman and her very friendly dog !) grabbed our bags and headed to the hostel. An interesting place to say the least, cheap and cheeful ? Well cheap anyway! We had opted for a dorm room rather than a ...

Planning my trip

I have been going to the annual World Science Fiction Conventions for quite a few years, and after discussing it with Alicia, my wife, it was decided that I should go alone this time.  I also decided to do the long hops in Business Class where possible.Denver seemed to be very booked up at the time I made my bookings, and I could not get a reservation for a longer period than the minimum covering the ...

... outdoor cafe then posted them at the post office. We bought tickets for the 2pm bus tour, then went into the museum. The exhibits were varied, featuring native people, the convicts who first settled in Tasmania and Antarctic explorers, many of whom set out from Hobart. We didn't have time to see the Art Gallery, which was in the same building because it was time for the bus tour. The bus took us around the town, to ...

Brisbane to Hobart

... of Australia (FYI) with a cool climate and made up mostly of national parks. Hobart is focused around its harbor, with stone waterfront warehouses converted into art galleries and restaurants, and the rest of the town spilling up into the surrounding foothills. It definitely has a slow-paced, small town feel. The next day we were booked on a river cruise out of Hobart to tour the Cadbury Chocolate factory. Since ...

Remarkable Caves

... just amazing, the other times was because we got lost, ce la vie. As such we visited port Arthur again into he morning to complete the tour, its truly grim what happened to the people in that prison camp, those who didn't conform just went mad, they even had a mental Asylum on site to accommodate the prisoners who just went bonkers. The Crimes they committed ...
