Today we drove through Alabama, the southern part of Mississippi, and partway through Louisiana, and got to New Orleans. While driving through Mississippi, we drove along miles of white sandy beaches. In Louisiana, we drove across a bridge over huge Lake Pontchatrain. Day 1
... t notice the heat too much, but stop at a stop light or to take a butt break and it was bad. Unfortunately, almost every place we stopped for a butt break had no shade. We are going to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner tonight. It's across the street so we'll just walk. Best Little BBQ in Town
Drove into Jefferson Tx. The place IS a booming touristy town! Jefferson has streets full of antiques stores, gift shops, restaurants, a wonderful locally made jam/jelly outlet and all kinds of nostaglic items.
We stopped at Joe;s Riverboat BBQ and had the best BBQ sandwiches. Mine was turkey and the Mr. was pork shoulder. Best meal we have had since leaving Michigan.

Packing and getting ready
We are all getting excited to go on our first family vacation out of state together. We can not wait to see the ocean and the white sanded beaches.
