... was steep and nerve-wracking, too many trucks and not enough visibility. By the time we got to Limon, it was dark and still snowing. Tomorrow, we hit Kansas and hope to have better weather, but it's not likely according to the Weather Channel. Summer is definitely over.
There is a Christian
rehab in Managua that has a one time fee of $35 and you can stay as
long as you want (in years). And you can even opt to stay on there and
help. He wants to stay for at least one year or until he feels he can
stand on his own. They also have Bible study there and every hour is
planned out for them. I plan to be in touch and ...
LIMON, Costa Rica whomshallisend... a lot of "suggestions" that are very costly. In case you forgot, the labor around here is 100% of the cost of the supplies needed to do the job. So it can get very costly very quickly. The man who does the jobs for the school usually charges about 75-80% for labor instead of 100%. That is still a big chunk of money to have to pay for things to get done. That is why the security fence isn't done yet. It will cost about $5,000 for materials. Therefore, in addition to ...
LIMON, Costa Rica whomshallisendI know I'm late again. Time flies when you're having fun. Well, as the title suggests, the bus finally made it. Actually it got here mid October, and then got lost for about a week at the port in Limon. We bothered enough people that someone finally went and looked and supposedly another vehicle had been blocking it. Then they were trying to charge about 20 dollars a day storage plus the agency that was handling it popped up and said that a law got passed in June ...
LIMON, Costa Rica whomshallisendDon't know where to start so this may jump around a little more than normal. Had a safe trip home and back it's confirmed we are grandparents. 9lbs 4ozs, 21.5" by the name of Graham Charles Simpson. The bus still isn't here but should be in a week or two. Barb had to go back a week before me while I was trying to get another shipper. Once I had one lined up; I headed for Houston where I was able to get a 5-hour layover. Got a car and headed for the original shipper's office ...
LIMON, Costa Rica whomshallisend... out of dreamstate and it actually took me a minute to figure out where I was. It didn't take long to clarify the push toward the first mountain range of the many to come, I was rolling at 70 on 70 before 7:00. By 8 am I was sipping coffee not too far from a little town called Silver Plume. I could see a ...
Limon, Colorado, United States matthewpaul44... ever asked for. Things are predictable and nothing is ever lost in translation. While I wish that I could relive some of the moments of my trip and perhaps forget others (e.g. one tough night in Argentina and the over 220 hours on a bus that I will never get back), I would not change a thing. Everything was amazing and memorable, and I regret nothing. Not the long, deep, soul bearing discussions, several intoxicated nights, nor my not-so-frequent political outbursts. Later ...
Denver, Colorado, United States erich.noriega... but we both knew that in choosing smaller mid sized bags we would commit ourselves to travelling light. Hopefully we would not end up doing the double pack, quadruple strap shuffle. Now that the limit was determined, we began to see just what we could take with us. Among the vitals were a first aid kit, shoes, a toothbrush, and... well I suppose that those are the vitals. As for clothing, we tried to restrict ourselves to lightweight clothing that would dry ...
Denver, United States longwalktourWe arrived in Denver sunday afternoon & were treated to some amazing weather, almost ideal. the biggest adjustment was the dryness of the air, i'm drinking water like its going out of style.... It was a busy week, but we still managed to find time to get out to a rockies game and the amphitheatre at Red Rocks. Denver is a pretty cool city, the downtown core has be revitalized, with one main street, the 16th st mall, open only to electric ...
