Travel Blogs from Boulder City
We got up early for a raft trip in the Colorado River starting at the bottom of Hoover Dam. The water is crystal clear even tho it looks green. The reason it's green is because of the plant life down the bottom of the river. It's so deep that you still can see the bottom. The trip took 4 hours but we learnt lots of amazing things along the way about how it was made and was shown important sites in history. We had lunch at a remote spot. We then drove back towards the Lake Mead area. We stopped at Hemenway Park, a local park where Big Horn Sheep come down from the mountain to graze everyday. There was a big herd there, and many people taking pictures of them, including us.
We went on to Lake Mead, stopping first at the Visitor’s Center. We got a map of the area and saw the museum ...
... a false moonlit sky. This was one of our favourite resorts – the décor was stunning and there was so much to see and do. The photos hopefully do it more justice than my words – I’m running out of superlatives!
Next was New York New York, famous for the roller coaster running in and out of the buildings. We did two runs on the roller coaster – which was awesome! – then headed across the walkway to MGM, where we had picked out ...
... only accessible water was the bathroom sink and it wasn't just warm, it was hot. On top of that, our water bottles didn't exactly fit in the sink so we couldn't get much water at a time. The heat never let up, even when it started raining and the sun went down. By that time I was curled up on the ground throwing up while Case was trying to get some food into both of us.
Around midnight we both felt well enough to be able to sleep. We crawled into the tent ...
... before would bet low on the 3 dollar *****. I feel my relationship with vegas is much more honest now - i pay for my drinks food etc and I get it (like a regular holiday ) rather than sitting for hours on end at a table racking up points and free drinks
The other thing I've learnt is that in American food I seem to prefer mid priced restaurant to high end, very handy to know,
